Per MouseRocks' thread over in off-topic, if you woke up on the streets of a city... what things would you see to automatically know that you're in Metropolis.... -- If your hometown paper is the Daily Planet, then you live in Metropolis. -- If you're familiar with the names of reporters from your local paper (see above) because they appear in headlines as often as your crooked politicians, then you live in Metropolis. -- If you aren't phased by a man flying overhead in blue and red, then you live in Metropolis. -- If you're more likely to scream "Help, Superman!" than "Fire!" or "Police!" when in trouble, then you live in Metropolis. -- If there's a disaster on the horizon, either man-made caused by an evil villain or an asteroid from space, and the whole city has once more put on alert, then it must be Tuesday in Metropolis. -- If you blame all the problems in the city on one person (either good or bad), then you probably live in Metropolis. What else can you think of?

--If you consider yourself to live in the 'state' (?) of New Troy, then you must live in Metropolis. --If the words 'Lex' or 'Luthor' appear in a wide range of different businesses/charities throughout the city, you must live in Metropolis (Luthor Hospital/LNN/LexCorp/Lexor Hotel/Luthor Home for Children). --If you aren't the least bit surprised to see other superheros (besides the Man of Steel) hanging around your city, you must live in Metropolis (Resplendent Man/Vixen/Ultra Woman). --If you happen to love the tabloids, and you love to read the National Whisper/National Inquisitor/Dirt Digger Weekly, you must live in Metropolis. Hmmm...have to keep thinking on this. Laura

Don't forget LexComm owns all the public telephones. I always find it ironic that Clark, Jimmy, Jack, and Perry are talking about their Lex Luthor / Boss investigation in HoL over the LexComm telephone lines. How about this for a LexComm slogan: "Use LexComm for all your communication needs. We're as safe as the NIA!"

You live in Metropolis if CostMarts ACTUALLY have a basement.
You live in Metropolis when the reporters are so often kidnapped that you shrug when you hear they're missing.
You live in Metropolis when the latest gossip is about the bad guy of the week.
CLARK: No. I'm just worried I'm a jinx. JONATHAN: A jinx? CLARK: Yeah. Let's face it, ever since she's known me, Lois's been kidnapped, frozen, pushed off buildings, almost stabbed, poisoned, buried alive and who knows what else, and it's all because of me. -"Contact" (You're not her jinx, you're her blessing.)

You know you live in Metropolis when you consider the laws of physics to be merely frequently-broken guidelines.

--If you are a fan of the singer Hank West or a fan the Tigers sports team, you must live in Metropolis. Were the Tigers football or basketball? Either way...a 'Tiger Fan' is still a 'Tiger Fan', I guess Laura

Were the Tigers football or basketball? Either way...a 'Tiger Fan' is still a 'Tiger Fan', I guess If that's the team that Nazi from Super Mann played for, then it was Football. -- If you're a fan of the Nets (basketball team), then you probably hail from Metropolis.

You know you live in Metropolis if:
- your favourite candy is a Double Fudge Crunch Bar - your favourite hangout is the Ace of Clubs - sudden gusts are accompanied by sonic booms and blue/red blurs - your appearance changes completely, but everyone still recognizes you and no one even notices that you've changed. (Think of all the cast changes for Jimmy, Inspector Henderson, all of Lois' family, etc.) (This one is the counterpart to Lois Lane Fan's earlier observation regarding glasses being a good disguise)

You know you live in Metropolis if:
- Human clones are not big news. - Nobody talks about it, but all the criminals know who is "The Boss". - Successful businessmen probably are crime masterminds (Luthor, Church, Goode). - The top scientific facility is STAR Labs.

You know that you live in Metropolis when... -- ditzy, arm-candy, trophy-wife blondes are actually smarter than their criminal mastermind megalomaniac husbands LOIS: Correction. Women are routinely smarter than the men in general. CLARK: Hey! LOIS: Are you saying I'm wrong? CLARK: uh, no. Just that it cuts a little close to home. -- Women in general are either major players or the "Boss" (so to speak) in many of the city's criminal plots (Dr. Baines, Toni Taylor, Miranda, Candice the magician, Mrs. Harrison, Mrs. Lake, the Ex-Mrs. Luthor, Dr. Kelly, etc., etc., etc.)

--If you are not surprised by the possibility of any type of potential weather, you must live in Metropolis.
**Thinking of: --MOSB's 'heat wave' in the middle of winter --JSN's potential flood --DLW's change of sky color followed by the 'superman tornado'

If you roll your eyes when Murray Mindlin (Channel 6!) appears on your TV, postulating that someone's 'force field' was the reason that the baseball team stinks...
"It's the mythology of a sun god who wished he was a man because he saw something so great in us. It's the story of a hero who could move whole worlds and see through stars and hear a whisper on the other side of the planet... ...and who fell in love with a storyteller." - ashmaht (x)

Sticking to the 'tv theme' ... --If your choice host for nature-related programming is Marlin Pfinch-Lupus from the Nature Station, you must live in Metropolis. (Now envisioning the amazing kiss at the end of WWW--ahhh ) Laura

You know you live in Metropolis (or at least visit regularly) when the biggest hazard to aircraft flying over the city is not skyscrapers or birds, but "cape-strike"!
