Hey There! Gotta tell you, the part about Clark hearing Martha and Jonathan was hilarious! He looked at her sincerely and said, “I’ll always come back to you. I love you. Right now, I have to save you again, all of you. There’s a rock out there that needs to go away and I’m the only one that can send it away.”
Lois gave him another kiss and said, “For luck.”
“I don’t need luck when I’ve got Lois Lane.”
She looked at him up through her lashes and coyly said, “Always, lover.” Nice lines! It really puts in perspective that Clark is fighting not just for countless millions, but for families like his own. They had known that it would take Clark a while to reach the asteroid. The mission control specialist came on and announced “This is Mission Control. The ‘Nightfall’ fragment is still on track and on time. We are fourteen minutes and counting from the projected impact of the 'Nightfall' asteroid. Impact is expected to occur just off the coast of the eastern seaboard. The tsunami created is expected to cover all of the landmass east of the Appalachian Mountains.” Suddenly he paused in his recitation and with a startled tone said, “Wait a minute. What’s happening? Stand by!’ The audio was cut off. Two minutes later it came back on and the excitement was obvious, “This is mission control. Mission trackers reporting an anomaly. Switching to back-up computers for corroboration.” There was a brief pause, then, “Roger, confirmation. The asteroid’s vector is changing.” As always, the science is awesome! I would have just written something like: Suddenly the mission control specialist said, "The asteroid is going off course!" The next morning, Lois was at the Planet bright and early thanks to Martha preparing breakfast again. Clark had to respond to an emergency so she had gone in by herself. He would be with her shortly. Everything is back to normal. Whew! Perry clapped the younger man on the shoulder and said, “You did a good job Jimmy. You hustled, you didn't give up, you got the story. I’m proud of you, son.”
Jimmy was suddenly very subdued, “That means a lot, coming from you. I just wish I could write better.”
By way of encouragement, Perry said, “Nothing wrong with being a photo-journalist with a nose for news. You keep at it, son. Never know what'll happen.” Rome wasn't built in a day Jimmy. Cat came over and it looked to Lois as if she were going to try to kiss Clark, but to Lois’s surprise that’s not what happened. Lois was surprised when Cat walked up and put out her hand, saying, “Welcome back, Clark. I’m glad you got your memory back. I have to say, even without your memory; you’re still the nicest guy I think I’ve ever met. I’m just sorry you chose Lois and not me.”
Noting the tear at the corner of her eye, Clark said, “Cheer up, Cat. I’m sure that the right guy for you is out there, somewhere. You just need to slow down and let him find you.” Thank you! Cat is the most misunderstood of all the first season characters. The fact that she shook his hand shows that the Nightfall asteroid situation did her some good. Slow down Cat ... George is waiting to catch up! Lois smiled and swatted his arm before she said, “How right you are. We have to write up the ‘Superman Saves the World’ story, but that’s yesterday’s news.” Looking around to make sure she wouldn’t be heard and dropping her tone to a conspiratorial level, she said, “I think that our next big story is going to be, Lex Luthor.” Watch out Lex! The Hottest Team in Town is on your trail!

Hi Morgana, Thanks for the FDK! Hey There! Gotta tell you, the part about Clark hearing Martha and Jonathan was hilarious! I thought that a childhood memory cropping up would lighten the mood somewhat.
Yes. Those dearest to him and all of the families like that in the world. I would have just written something like: Suddenly the mission control specialist said, "The asteroid is going off course!" Blame my technical background. The next morning, Lois was at the Planet bright and early thanks to Martha preparing breakfast again. Clark had to respond to an emergency so she had gone in by herself. He would be with her shortly. Everything is back to normal. Whew! Yes, everything is winding down.
Jimmy has a long way to go, but with mentors like Perry, Lois and Clark – how can he go wrong?
Yes, I also liked Cat and felt that they never fully developed the character. I have been changing her slightly with time. If this series goes to season 2 she may just remain in it. Yes, stay tuned for future episodes.

Just wanted to pipe in here. I may not be leaving much FDK for these series but I look forward to them each Tuesday and Friday. I love the approach with Lois knowing Clark's secret early, in love and married and how all that impacts the early episodes.
I always get annoyed with the overuse of the "Moonlighting Curse" idea in TV series. Your stories (and a number of others) show that the stories can be interesting and sexual tension can be just as great between these two characters even after they are honestly in love and married. I feel that writers and show runners often put together badly constructed, wildly ridiculous episode arcs just to keep the characters from getting married when they should be concentrating on getting them married and moving on. We lived through the ones in Lois and Clark (clone/memory loss/New Kryptonian group) and Castle writers are putting use through something just as bizarre in last season's cliffhanger and now the non-resolution (memory loss - here we go again) of that cliffhanger during the first few episodes of this season. I find myself once again yelling at the television in frustration. The talented writers here demonstrate time and again how you can keep the magic alive even after the dreaded wedding.
Just wanted to encourage you to please continue the series because I am enjoying it immensely.
Thanks
Mike

Sorry I didn’t comment on earlier chapters… I liked seeing how things changed from canon in this story, particularly how Clark came back before Superman.
I’m guessing the showdown with Luthor will be different from canon, too. I’m looking forward to seeing the rest of “Season 1.”

Mike Thank you, sincerely, for these comments. Since I started this series I have received some enthusiastic comments, notably from my beta readers who are appreciating this ‘different’ take on the season. Rest assured that I plan to go through the entire first season and possibly the second as well. You are familiar with my Matchmaker series and anyone who is knows what I established as a baseline for Lois to become pregnant, three years of being exposed to the Kryptonian aura. If you think about the timing and the series as it played out, if I carry through the entire series, guess who the baby in Family Affair will be.
