“So if you only want him back in Metropolis because you miss your friend, then leave him where he is.” Nice! This is great Perry wisdom. Lois' desire to get Clark back is coming from a selfish motivation - it's about her wishes, not Clark's. Lois needs to consider his advice, analyze her own feelings, and discover if there's more to her search for Clark than friendship. Of course, Clark didn't do himself any favors by taking off without talking to her (as Clark). I look forward to the next part.

This-is-great! I'm really impressed by your set-up...Clark changing his name, writing travel pieces, down the line his work gets picked up by the Planet. It's a great way to have pulled them apart, but then also, bring them back together . Oh--and I'll try not to gush too much about how much I loved Lois immediately recognizing Clark's work . Despite their issues with communication between each other, there is such a cohesive way that they can communicate with their written words. Perry is amazingly, perfectly perceptive. I love that Clark has been gone a year, and yet--because Perry really came to care for Clark--he tries to protect him. And I love the reality check that was thrown at Lois. Lois' jump-first-into-the-pool reaction was to track Clark down...do what her gut was telling her to do. But...she needs to lead with her heart. Know the 'Why' beforehand. Have an idea of an end result she's wanting to achieve. Because really, she's engaged. Settled into life in Metropolis. And Clark is damaged, and trying to somehow put himself back together again, as he travels the world. Part 3 can not come soon enough!!! Laura

Lois' desire to get Clark back is coming from a selfish motivation - it's about her wishes, not Clark's. Lois needs to consider his advice, analyze her own feelings, and discover if there's more to her search for Clark than friendship. Susan- that's just it. She *has* to put him first for a change. This can't just be about what she wants, or Clark is ultimately the one that will suffer. She's engaged to another man... what does she want with poor Clark? I've often thought that Lois's occasional selfish moments come from being so alone for so long. She's had to put herself first that whole time, and habits are hard to break. It's something that I love about the show and their relationship; you can see Clark breaking through that wall and showing Lois that it's okay to care and be cared for. Perry is amazingly, perfectly perceptive. I love that Clark has been gone a year, and yet--because Perry really came to care for Clark--he tries to protect him. Laura- Perry always reminds me of a bear. Yes, he can bite your head off- but mess with his family and you're in big trouble! Lois, Clark, and Jimmy are basically his kids, or at least that's how he sees them, I think- and lord knows his own son is a bit of a disappointment. And Clark is damaged, and trying to somehow put himself back together again, as he travels the world. Yup. Lois has the capacity to break Clark- or save him. And it goes both ways. Next part will be up on Friday (Aus time)

What a great part. I second what Susan and Laura wrote. And I love how Clark and Lois are both reading Clark's column in the Planet at the same time. Great timing! Looking forward to Part 3.

Great point, Feli--Lois, alone, for so many years, I'm sure, would feed into her selfish moments . A habit, especially something like self-preservation, is so very hard to break. Laura

I also agree with everyone else's astute points. Framework's right. Does Lois really think that after she "dumped" Superman, Superman went to tell Clark that Lois chose Dan without proof? Does Lois think that Superman sabotaged her potential relationship with Clark? How would Superman know about Lois and Dan's relationship anyway? (It's been a while since I've watched those episodes.) Does she think that Superman helped Clark bolt town too? My, those two men are close.
Lots for Lois to think about before she tracks Clark down. We all know that's what Lois will do. She'll disregard Perry's sage advice and go after Clark... or will she actually THINK about why it's so important for her to track him down? Will she tell Dan before she leaves town? I bet she's wondering why Clark is wring with a pseudonym. I am. Does Clark think Lois realized that he's Superman due to them both leaving town at the same time? Nah. Lois probably suspects they both left because of her... broken hearts and all.
TEMPUS: Glactically stupid, that one. Duh!
Can't wait to read the next part.

I remember there being one scene where Superman was introduced to Dan at her apartment and he was cool to the point of rude. Dan and Lois even talk about it (Lois saying she'd never seen Superman act like that before).
CLARK: No. I'm just worried I'm a jinx. JONATHAN: A jinx? CLARK: Yeah. Let's face it, ever since she's known me, Lois's been kidnapped, frozen, pushed off buildings, almost stabbed, poisoned, buried alive and who knows what else, and it's all because of me. -"Contact" (You're not her jinx, you're her blessing.)

“The thing is, uh, I know how Clark felt about you. Boy fell for you like a poleaxed steer the day you two met. You getting engaged to Luthor didn’t change that, and I’d bet my Elvis collection that you getting engaged to Dan won’t have changed it either.” He fixed her with a steely glare. “So if you only want him back in Metropolis because you miss your friend, then leave him where he is.” Perry is right, if she does not want him back as much more than her partner than leave the poor man where ever he is. No wonder the Kents were reluctant to tell her where he was. This story is very enjoyable Feli. Keep it coming!
