Hope you all enjoy the sweet ending! It's a busy weekend ahead for me as I prepare to host Thanksgiving for the first time, so you all get this a tad early.

Awww. How sweet! Well, except Mayson still being her usual interruptous self even until the end. I'm glad that Lois finally did forgive Clark. I don't like him walking on eggshells around her. So, the virus was linked all the way back to Mindy, huh? CLARK: And strangely, she fell off a building in Metropolis and died when I was helping with that earthquake in Southern California. LOIS: Yes, too strange. /whistles innocently while looking at fingernails/ The Kent family & Lois ganging up at dinner was funny, and Clark trying his darnest not to give that 1% more that would push him from normal to super. He bought the ring after their second date? That's someone who was VERY optimistic for his future. What if she'd dumped him after date 3? Thanks for sharing your story with us.

Couldn't resist the last little Mayon Interruptus joke. At least Jimmy got a break from the role, right? I thought it would be neat to tie it back into canon a bit, with the Mindy thing. Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing Lois "accidently" seeing to Mindy's untimely demise. I love being able to have Clark in that kind of "everyone's ganging up on me in a fun kind of joking way" situation. It's fun to have him toe the line of normal and super. Even if his line is a little further than yours and mine. Clark: Gotta seize the moment when you see the perfect ring. Plus, yeah, I wasn't going to let go of the hope I'd get to use it. Lois: I picked out a spot on my shelf for my Pulitzer before I even got taken on as a full time reporter...

Hi Vicki! And now for the finale! "So, what do you want to know?" he asked after a brief silence blanketed the room.
"Everything." The response was immediate. But does she *really* want to know *everything*? I mean, there’s…things she wouldn’t want to know about Clark. Personal things. *Private* things. "My parents found me one night after seeing what they thought was a meteor crash into a field not far from their home. Can you imagine if he had been instead found by a couple of wolfs and raised in the woods? Sending the capsule into space without a proper landing module sure was akin to child neglect. Maybe they should get a visit from CPS about that. LEX: Yes. Yes, indeed. And if CPS finds them indeed lacking and additional children, they should have them taken to a foster family immediately. Luckily, I have a couple of bedrooms available. And nannies. I have several nannies available. All throughout my childhood, my powers started manifesting, one by one. I didn't know why. Neither did my parents. Like how things always become so transparent when he was near the girls’ locker room. Or why fires started when he was talking to the cheerleading squad. And that sudden cold front that one summer day at the lake when the entire class went skinny dipping? Would I ever stop gaining new powers? No… /points at ‘lock picking’, ‘creative evidence gathering’, and ‘pleasing Lois’ although he’s still working on that last one. Not mastered it yet and every time he figures one out, there’s the next level to consider. A silent Lois on the outside usually meant a surging volcano within. It was only a matter of time before her anger would come spewing forth, rightfully burying him in fire and ash. So, x-nay on the storage closet during office hours, then, huh? Given how they have to keep it real quiet-like there. "So, if I asked you how many women you've dated..."
"Five," Clark immediately responded, Multiply this by three according to the common trope on male and female statistics. "The women you saw...how many did you..." …propose to? "None," he interrupted, looking away. "I've never been in love before. Until I met you."
"So, you're..." Her eyes widened in shock. …still not married to anyone else. "I couldn't help it," he replied. "I could never hide the way I feel about you. Well…*that’s* his mother’s fault. "Don't you worry that I might give you away somehow?"
"No," he replied confidently and without hesitation. "I know I can trust you. More than that even. I can't really explain it. /points at photos at Chateau Roberge or the ones taken in Centennial Park of her and Superman, holding hands and gazing lovingly into their eyes/ "Don't make me regret it." It was half an ultimatum, half a plea.
"Never," he swore. "You have my word, Lois. I love the fact that I can be honest with you now. For so long, I've been alone in how I live my life." So, he’ll be honest with her when he tells her that it’s too dangerous for her to be dating Clark Kent because Superman will always endanger her? "True," he agreed, "but it's different with them. They're my parents. Their support is...I don't want to say a given, but...it's kind of a given, you know? LOIS: No. I don’t know, actually. "One of the family? What am I then? Chopped liver?" he tossed back lightly. To be fair, he’s an alien and Lois is a human. "I, uh...I have something I'd like to give you tonight, Lois," Clark said, his pulse quickening. "It's not a gift, per se, but it's something I'd like to give you in private. If that's okay, I mean." Didn’t find a ring-one but I figure, a ring pop should do, too? When they parted, Lois gave him a mischievous look. "Should we wake your parents and tell them the good news?"
"Nah," Clark said, waving off the suggestion. "For tonight, at least, it's our little secret." I’m sure it will be out when they show up in their fuzzy robes the next morning, Clark wearing the pink one and Lois the maroon one, that is. Adorable take on HIWTHI, Vicki! Lois and Mayson had such different dynamic, here Michael

Awwww! What a wonderful treat--a sofa, kitty on my lap, a chai tea, and getting able to read the finale of your story . All last week, I was really wanting to get back here and see how you ended things. Holiday weekends though...wow, busy times. But really, I very much enjoyed this . It was great that Lois and Clark finally got some time to really talk. Lois knows everything now--no more secrets. And I'm glad that you tied up the ends so well...finding out that Lois and Clark got into an investigation and figured things out, what truely had happened, was nice to hear. Then going forward a bit, letting them have time to adjust to this new 'them' and being able to see the happiness and comfort towards each other that they've gained--how they are better now than ever--was lovely. And lastly, the proposal . Happily-Ever-After! Woo-hoo! Gotta love that . And it's even better knowing that everything has been spoken, all secrets are explained, and everyone is in good health . Awesome job! Laura

Awesome job! Laura Hi, Laura! Glad you got a chance to finish this. I know what you mean about busy holiday weekends. I hosted Thanksgiving, then my mom and I shopped late that night (10pm-2am!), and we hit up stores on Friday. Now I'm sick! Eeep! Glad you liked the fic overall. I loved throwing Mayson into the mix, and putting everything back together (happily!) was fun. I especially loved having the opportunity to maintain that it was Lois who did the proposing. Clark never asks her to marry him. He only gives her the answer to her question. That was important to me. Thanks for reading!

"Okay, you're crazy," she said, grinning. "Crazy but very sweet."
"I love you, Lois," he told her, drawing her to kiss her deeply.
When they parted, Lois gave him a mischievous look. "Should we wake your parents and tell them the good news?"
"Nah," Clark said, waving off the suggestion. "For tonight, at least, it's our little secret." WoW! Are Ma and Pa Kent gonna have a lot to talk about with their son and his fiance over breakfast in the morning! Great story!

Lovely story and sweet ending. I like the twist that Lois proposes, not Clark. I think that's just so Lois.
Mayson in the story was delightful. I like the fact that she didn't die in the car bomb, and was willing to work with Superman and Clark when she discovered his secret.
Hope you are fully recovered soon.

(Still, I'll take her over Scardino any day of the week!) And I definitely loved keeping it Lois who does the proposing, from start to finish.

Aaaand round we go But does she *really* want to know *everything*? I mean, there’s…things she wouldn’t want to know about Clark. Personal things. *Private* things.
Lois: Believe me, I want to know about those the most. CLARK: Mowgli: No, you stay in your own story, Superman! I AM NOT sharing my origin story! And that sudden cold front that one summer day at the lake when the entire class went skinny dipping?
Clark: Oddly, that coincided with learning how to float... Why am I thinking he’s talking about floating in water…? I think he has to learn how to interpret Lois' needs before the whole pleasing thing. Oh boy. Perry: If those two don't get out of there right now and get me a story, I swear I'm going to fire them both. Yeah, *right*. Because he’s got any *other* reporters who regularly bring in Superman exclusives and page-one exposes. Clark: I'm REALLY not like other men... LOIS: So, he doesn’t lie? He wasn’t seeing other women? He wasn’t disregarding his girlfriend’s needs? Zara: Hey!!! Over here! Wife since birth? Hellllllo??? Ring any bells?
Lois: /slightly dissatisfied with the whole mistress situation/
Clark: I plead complete ignorance! I’m guessing ‘N.O.’? Lois: Hey! I believe that was more of HIS actions that gave us away... So, *Superman’s* the cad and lousy friend while she’s just a hapless prop in the affair? So, he’ll be honest with her when he tells her that it’s too dangerous for her to be dating Clark Kent because Superman will always endanger her?
*nods* LOIS: /keeps some of the Kryptonite to fasten into knee protectors/ Clark: Hey! Aliens are people too you know! (goes off crying) /ticks off ‘mission accomplished’/ Michael

Wow DC, you really did mess with everything! I really liked your characterization of Lois Lane. The proposal was just picture-perfect! But I’m definitely with Martha on Mason being in the know about Clark’s secret. Witness Protection sounds like a winning solution! And Lois’s reaction to finding out that Mason was the first to learn the secret! Yet, Clark continued to keep his identity from her. Well, let’s just say, the virus most likely saved Clark from something far worse!! And who could blame her? Bet Lois is still mad about that after all these years! Good job at conveying the struggle we often face in forgiving those lunkheads we love and can’t live without! Thanks for finding a happily ever after ending to this challenge from a unique and creatively novel perspective.
