chapter 16:
The red sun appeared at the horizon this was the moment they had hoped that wouldn’t happen but still happened.
Soldier after soldier appeared on the planet Thoria, ready to save their lord's mother and his partner. Hundreds and hundreds of soldiers were ready to fight this war, the inevitable war in the name of their commander Kal-El.
Ching was still at the ship following the tracker. It was almost dawn and the tracker started to react, Lois was on the move and probably Lara too. They were moving in the direction of a large square carrying the name of their leader Thrax.
"What did Aakai say about this square?" Ching asked himself.
Then it dawned on him but what he remembered wasn't good. They executed prisoners there.
"Soldier this is, Lt. Ching. Go immediately to the Thrax square, I am fearing that Lois and Lara are about to be executed. All our lives depend on it, we are toast if we can't save our lord's partner and his mother." Ching ordered.
At the square, Thrax was standing in front of the people of Thoria, the elite sitting in special chairs while the people stood in front of a stone podium. On that podium was an iron box, a sort of prison cell for only one person.
Lois swallowed, she had seen this before. When Kal-El was being executed for treason. They had turned it around just in time or Kal-El would have been vaporized into space.
"Dear people of Thoria, Lara-El of Krypton and Lois Lane of Earth have turned themself against your king and are hereby punished for treason with death by vaporization," Thrax said while the crowd cheered. They had learned long ago that you best agreed with the king if you wanted to live.
The Thorian soldier threw Lara-El into the machine.
"The first one to be executed today is Lara-El" Thrax yelled. Thrax had noticed the look on Lois her face, "that's right you saw this thing before, didn't you? When your beloved Kal-El was going to be executed for treason. Guess who brought Lord Nor on the idea ?" the Thorian king laughed evilly, "Now you are going to die instead of him."
This made Lois scream, tears in her eyes and fire in her soul made her fight her soldier but all the attention went to the Kryptonian soldier who rang a shot into the air.
The soldiers guarding the prisoners looked towards the other side of the square.
"Release the prisoners or die Thrax." the Kryptonian soldier yelled.
"Never !" Thrax responded while he turned the big button on his remote control.
"Kill them!" followed as an order by the Thorian king.
A second soldier shot two of the guards on the podium while Lois being the brave woman she was hit a third one in the stomach and on the back of his neck. While in the meantime Lara was being vaporized.
Thrax startled while a shot rang only inches next to his head, throwing the remote control into the air.
Lois jumped up towards the remote control but the guard she hit down grabbed her foot. She fell just out of reach of the remote control. Thrax saw that but Kryptonian laser shots stopped Thrax from grabbing it. Lois hit the Thorian soldier hard in his face and grabbed the remote control. She had watched how the thing worked when Kal-El was being executed. She looked to the soldier and nodded.
The soldier shot again but hit him straight in Thrax's face. The Kryptonian soldiers were winning although they too had lost many men in this battle. The soldier stepped on the podium and removed Lois her iron cuffs without any difficulties. That made sure that she could reverse the vaporization. Which was halfway by now.
Lois didn't wait for another second and turned the button to the other side. It didn't have to be one minute later or Lara would have been gone forever. Lara became solid again in a matter of seconds. Lois waited until she was stable enough to open the prison door.
Lara felt weakly in Lois's arms even though Lois had waited a bit before opening up the cell.
"Soldier brings her to the recovery room in the ship immediately," Lois said worriedly.
"I have orders to bring you both to safety Mrs. Lois." the soldier said before signing a few of his colleagues.
Four soldiers surrounded Lois, while four others were protecting the soldier carrying Lord Kal-el's mother who was still unconscious.
A shiver crept over Lois's spine and tears formed in her eyes when she saw all the dead Kryptonian soldiers. They all died to save her and Lady Lara. Half of the Kryptonian soldiers would never see there home planet or family ever again. It made Lois think how close she had been to dying herself.
The soldiers, the soldier that was carrying Lara included made their way to where the ship was located. Not knowing that they were being followed. A brave Thorian soldier wanted to take revenge for the death of his king.
He stopped the moment they stopped walking, aiming but didn't have a clear view of the woman that was alien to them, a woman of Earth. He only needed the smallest gap to shoot being the finest shooter of Thoria.
He was shocked when a ship appeared and the ramp opened up this may be the only chance he got.
The soldier with Lara in his arms walked up the ramp.
"Bring her to the recovery," Ching said, who was waiting at the end of the ramp.
Lois, on the other hand, was only half the ramp when a shot rang and Lois fell into the arms of the soldier behind her. She was shot in the back and lost consciousness immediately. This was a new weapon giving to the best shooter of Thoria, one shot in the right place could kill you. They had to shoot in the neck or through the heart.
The shot was aimed for the neck but because Lois was walking on the ramp at a fast pace, he missed his shot. Hitting Lois a few inches lower.
The soldier who thought he had succeeded crawled back towards the square but Ching had been alert and noticed him. He took the gun that he had with him at all times and shot in the direction of the Thorian shooter.
The shooter fell hit in the back of the head. He ended up dead, ironically against the statue of the king whose death he wanted to revenge. He died thinking he killed the woman of the earth.
Ching was pacing up and down in the control room, waiting for some news from the doctor. They were both alive but he didn't know if they would survive. He didn't know what to tell his commander if he would contact him.
After twenty minutes of pacing up and down the room. Twenty long minutes because he knew Kal-El would be enraged if something had happened to Lois, the doctor arrived.
"How are they doctor?" Ching asked worriedly.
The doctor sighed, "they will live for now but the longer they stay unconscious, the less chance they have for survival. I must say Lady Lois was lucky though. The shot could have done severe damage if she wasn't with a child."
Ching was shocked how was he going to save himself out of this one. Ching sighed time to call the Supreme leader.
"Ching, I hope you have good news?" Kal-El asked the moment he answered the call.
