Underneath the headline was a news service photo of a tall young woman in a black and electric blue uniform standing next to Superman. The mask that covered her face hid her features and most of her hair, but Lois knew who this woman was. This was the same young woman who’d been in her office the day before. Lois smiled a sad smile while at the same time a small amount of pride swelled within her breast.

Lois Lane may be a driven journalist, but she is still a woman. Time has passed and this young woman has earned Lois' respect. Whew! That's great to see!

Lois settled back in her chair and picked up the paper once more. She scanned the accompanying article and sighed. She could have done so much better! Just then her phone rang, so she stuck the paper into her briefcase. This article, as lacking as it was, and the picture, would be the first entry in her new scrapbook.

See, she's started a scrapbook of her daughter's adventures. She may not have publicly acknowledged Lara, but like a good journalist, she is following up on the subject.

Martha shooed her family to the table. It was time to celebrate! “Why don’t we sit down and have some hot apple pie and milk? I want to hear all about your day.”

Kudos to the woman who raised Lara! You can see the kitchen table with that apple pie fresh out of the oven. What a lovely family scene. Speaking of family, I kinda wonder why Martha didn't confront Lois about her decision to surrender custody of her daughter to Clark? Basically ignoring Lara's existence? Wow! That is a conversation I would have paid money to see. Any takers as to who would have won? whistle

A writer's job is to think of new plots and create characters who stay with you long after the final page has been read. If that mission is accomplished than we have done what we set out to do, which is to entertain and hopefully educate.

Morgana,
Thanks so very much for your comments! You, as usual, have hit the nail on the head with regards to Lois. After all these years her heart has softened and, even though she was absent during Lara's formative years, she's still proud of the woman that she gave birth to. With regards to Martha and Lois's conversation, I wish I'd thought of that! I, like you, think it would be an epic discussion. However my thoughts behind that situation was that Martha didn't want to rock the boat. Clark had agreed to the conditions and she wanted to support him. I also feel that she was so relieved that their grandchild was living at their home she wasn't going to do anything to potentially cause trouble. Though knowing Martha I suspect she thought a lot about what she'd say to Lois if they ever met.
