As a mother who gestated her two babies, the idea of not being a part of them, and knowing where they are, and knowing the man I loved was their father means there's no way I could have not been in their lives.

I agree. I couldn't see any way that I would not want to be involved with my child either. I do hope that I set the background of why Lois did not want to be involved in her daughter's life but that is in the previous story "Too Soon for Love". Basically, Lois was angry at Clark for lying to her about Superman and she just wasn't ready for marriage having been vilified for not seeing through Luthor and her reputation was shot. I hope you understand her a bit more and I hope, as the story progresses that you'll see how she comes to change how she feels about Lara and their relationship.
