Hi,

Great start. thumbsup

Quote
It probably wasn't possible, so she had only one choice. She picked up her phone and dialed his phone number. It rang several times before the answering machine picked up.

Frustrated, Lois hung up the phone without leaving a message. <What can I do? I've got two dates for the same time tonight!>
You don't know what are answering machine for?
Please leave a message and leave early to Clark place. laugh

More soon, please.

Oooh, Roger!

First, I've got to tell you that my jaw dropped to the floor when I checked the boards a few minutes ago and saw your story with a dedication to me! Wow! blush Thank you so very much! smile I'm very moved that you wrote something for my birthday. smile

And what a treat! That first scene with Lois and Clark was so very waffy. I loved the meaning of the roses Clark picked up for Lois, and I adored the kiss of course. blush

Then you've got to complicate things by throwing Dan into it! I'm not sure if I hope that Lois manages to tell Dan that she doesn't want to date him before the evening, or if I'd rather there's somehow a confrontation between Dan, Clark-the-lunkhead-who-will-of-course-misunderstand-the-situation, and Lois. Angsty-me kinda likes the latter solution. dance

Kaethel smile (who wonders what she can have said back in January to inspire Roger - was it about clothes? travelling? discovering new cultures? - curious now!)

- I'm your partner. I'm your friend.
- Is that what we are?
- Oh, you know what? I don't know what we are. We kiss and then we never talk about it. We nearly die frozen in each other's arms, but we never talk about it, so no, I got no clue what we are.

This could be interesting. So far, I like it very much. Sooo waffy thumbsup

Yellow roses with red tips. blush How thoughtful, heck, adorably sweet of Clark!!!

Kaethel, I also hope for the latter solution. I'll hold my thumbs and see what Roger's up to.

Is it time for the next part, yet? jump

Interesting start.

Even though I know first hand that Roger is evil and have a great deal of respect for his skills as a writer, I wonder how he is going to get all those whams, angst, and emotional traumas in that Kae loves so much in just one more instalment.

I too wondered why Lois wouldn't leave a message. At least telling Dan that she wouldn't be available at that time, but they should get together to 'talk'. Or some such gentle brush off

Should prove enlightening.

Great start, Roger. Lois finding herself in the classic Marcia Brady spot of two dates in one night - but really only one that she wants to be on.

I like how you explained Clark's guilt over Mayson's death - about it being more his sense of lack of closure rather than an internal loss of someone he had deep feelings for. Hopefully that will go a long way in relieving Lois of some of her insecurities. It always amazes me that Lois would ever worry about Clark's feelings for her when it always seemed that he nearly wore his heart on his sleeve from day one.

I can't wait to see how she handles things with Dan. He was a fairly good guy, so I hope she lets him down gently <g>.

And I'm more than a little anxious to see what happens when she meets up with Clark. I have a feeling that our boy isn't going to wait too long to tell her about a little secret he's been hiding. The big question is how she'll handle it.

Looking forward to part 2!

Lynn

Lois, leave a note taped to the door and get to Clark's house at 7pm. He never asked if you were available to see him, he just assumed!

And you know what happens when that happens!!!

Cute story!

Aww! WAFFy and romantic! Nice, Roger! thumbsup

And so Lois is double-booked - but she's not, really, you know. She should have left a message on Dan's machine telling him she wasn't free. Silly Lois!

Looking forward to the 'dress warmly' date!

I really enjoyed this section -- love to see L&C getting along <g>

Now... I think this comments folder is quite healthy, and that therefore you should post part 2 immediately smile

Hi, everyone! Thanks for all the great comments!

First, I'd like to wish an early Happy Birthday! to Kaethel.

Several of you mentioned that Lois should have left phone messages. Well, she does early in the next section, so hopefully this satisfies everyone. Breaking up is not something that Lois would do over the phone, and also she can't be sure that Dan actually gets the message unless he calls her back. So that leaves her still in a quandary.

As for having two dates, well, you'll just to see what I have in mind in the next section. smile

I was doing an Internet search on flower colors and what they mean when I came across this interesting combination that I hadn't heard of before. I thought this color was just perfect for the situation.

For Tank and Kaethel: See if you catch a reference to Lois' hair in the next section. smile

And thanks, Lynn, for the comment about Clark being guilty over Mayson's death. While her discovery of Clark's super alter-ego was a big reason for his distraction, I think an even bigger part was his inability to be straightforward with Mayson on his feelings, leaving her dangling for so long.

Lois dumps Clark and goes out with Dan, then they got married, have lots of kids and live happily!!!
Jose, maybe I'll do that in another fic. evil I do have a reputation to maintain. wink

Thanks very much to Maria, Laura, kb, Kaethel, Julia, Crazy_Babe, Tank, Lynn, Chris, Jose, Tricia, Wendy, and Pam for commenting!
