Hi,

I came up with this last night - don't ask how - but I thought of turning it into a scavenger hunt challenge.

*Edited For Clarity (Thank you EditorJax)*

RULES:

1) It can be N/G Fic.
2) It can be set in any episode of the TV series.
3) It can be set in alternate worlds but attempt to give your readers a similar sense of timeframe.
4) The story must include a mention of the following:
  • -Lois Lane (ie: she must be an active participant in some part of the story, not just thought about by someone else etc)
  • - 500 grams or the equivalent in pounds/ounces of butter
  • - an airline
  • - a fantasy novel from real life - any author, but leave a note at the end of the fic
  • - something foreign

5)This bit is optional. There is no score but you get bonus points in the form of admiration and awe from your readers if you manage to include any or more of the following:
  • Each of any of the main canon characters included or mentioned (ie: Clark, Cat, Perry, Jimmy, Lucy, Ellen, Sam, Martha, Lex, Jonathan etc)
  • Each of any of the comic canon characters that we never saw in the TV series (ie: Lori Lemaris, Lana Lang etc)
  • penguins
  • a well known children's TV show

6) Check this thread often. Post a reply to let us know if you want to take part.

7) A list of those writing stories in response to this challenge will be posted here for the convenience of the readers and the potential for nagging fests to occur. ;-)

8) Write your story. Post it in the relevant folder and post a reply to this thread with a link to your story post and a link to the FDK thread for it. If you post in parts, do this for each part and place links in your intros in each part to the rest of the story threads.

9) There are no prizes for including everything - this is a creative exercise. So have fun.

Cheers, The Little Tornado.

That is quite the creative challenge, Little Tornado! I love the idea. smile When I first read "Scavenger Hunt," I had a thought that could..sort of relate to a story idea I already have in mind..and a fantasy story of sorts could work as well. In fact, lol, I believe I emailed you a little of what I had in mind a few days ago, when I asked if you would br and help cowrite a story with me.

Mystery aside, folcs, I have an idea for an n-fic. It would involve Disneyland, Tuck Everlasting (sort of a fantasy story)!, and heck I could put in an actual scavenger hunt of sorts. Lol, not sure about the butter or something foreign but a certain Man of Steel could arrange a flight to a foreign place for Lois if need be.

Anyone want to collaborate on this? Let me know.

Zoar3,
This a good time for me to BR because so many people have asked me and I have been unable to respond due to internet access issues etc but right now there is nothing happening to me so I am free to BR.

I haven't checked my email account for the MBS yet so I haven't seen your email yet. As for the story, well when I first thought up this challenge I was actually thinking of an L&C story plot myself and then I just thought it would be fun to pick elements out of it before I write it and post it as a scavenger hunt challenge to see if anyone could put all of those things together and come up with something similar to what I did.

Plus I thought 500 grams of butter in a Lois story would make people giggle.

So is anyone else interested? How awesome would it be if we could do a "Guess The Author" challenge for this one?

Cheers, The Little Tornado.

Can you clarify this? So if people wrote the story, they would have to include the elements you're suggesting, i.e. Lois, the butter, an airline, etc?

Clark: "You don't even know the meaning of the word 'humility,' do you?"

Lois: "Never had a need to find out its meaning."

Editor Jax:

I have edited my initial post for the sake of clarity - yes you have to include those things if you write it - you have to try to include them if you can. Thank you for pointing out that my idea wasn't that clear. :-D

Queen Of The Capes:

I am glad you are thrilled. I am glad you want to take part. hyper

Who's Taking Up The Gauntlet For This Challenge?
- Zoar3
- Queen Of The Capes
- Editor Jax (to be confirmed)
- The Little Tornado

Anyone else up for it? Post a reply to let me know.

Cheers, The Little Tornado.

Editor Jax:

I came up with a story and then I decided to pull certain bits and pieces out of it before I wrote it and post it as a scavenger hunt challenge to see if anyone would use the same elements and get anywhere close to the kind of idea or plot that I had in mind.

When I write the story and you read it, I think you'll understand the bit about the butter. Sorry to keep you in suspense.

People taking up the challenge:

Zoar3
Queen Of The Capes
Editor Jax
The Little Tornado

Any more takers? Let us know.

Cheers, The Little Tornado.

This is just a short story, right?

And when are they due?

Do we just go ahead and post them on the board when we're done?

Any length you want. Due any time.

Post in the relevant forum with "Scavenger Hunt" as part of the title of the post and then post a reply to this thread with the link to it.

Hope that helps.

Cheers, The Little Tornado.

Just a note, Tornado. We actually did see Lana Lang in the TV show, but she was in the alternate universe.

I think, therefore, I get bananas.

When in doubt, think about time travel conundrums. You'll confuse yourself so you can forget what you were in doubt about.

Woody: Thank you for that. I haven't seen the third and fourth season yet so my knowledge is based on what I have heard of what happened in those two seasons and what I have seen in the first two.

So thanks for letting me know.

Queen Of The Capes:

Your story is awesome. Shouldn't it be posted in the g fanfic forum though? Where does one post the responses to fanfic challenges?

Cheers, The Little Tornado.

You're welcome. She appears throughout the episode Tempus Anyone? and that's it, I believe. She's Alt-Clark's fiancé(e) at the time.

And as for challenge responses, some post them in the Fanfic forum, some post them here.

Woody: Again thanks, I'll just make sure there are links to the posts in this thread then.
