I was rereading a fine tale by Wendy Richards called
Nightmare on Clinton Street In it Lois Lane gets a call from Henderson.
"A... gas explosion?" she echoed shakily.
"Yes. In Kent's apartment block. As far as we can tell, no-
one got out alive. So we're busy trying to track down
anyone who knew the occupants, to see if there's any chance
that any of them weren't there." Henderson's tone was
harsh, but there was an undertone of weary sadness and
acceptance.
Since the time I first read it I've read a number of tales by
Dandello Both here and on
FanFiction.net In her tales
Henderson knows Clark is Superman. So middle to late first season Lois receives a call much like the one in nightmare but from a Henderson who knows Clark is Superman and knows he is tied up elsewhere, the event in Nightmare was an "earthquake in northern Indonesia."
Henderson tells her he needs her to drop out of sight and invent some reason to explain where She and Clark were at 4:30 AM and knowing Superman is likely to be tied up for a couple of days, to explain why Clark doesn't rush home to look over the damage.
Of course this is first season Lois, who is busy dating Lex Luthor, and does not know Clark is Superman.
Henderson simply assuming Lois knows, after all this is MadDogLane, fills her in on the problem and rings off.
So now Lois
knows!!. What happens next?
