I like this! It's a really interesting take on a somewhat familiar scenario. I've read (and written, come to think of it) stories about L&C training their super kids, but it's kinda fascinating to just observe it from the outside. I especially enjoyed the cameraman's horror when he thought Superman had pushed the kid to his death PJ

Very sweet. Though can I suggest a change from "Funny, it was almost as if the film had been exposed" to "Funny, it was almost as if the film had been demagnetised"? To my knowledge, video films are not light sensitive like photograph films are. To destroy a footage, you'd have to demagnatise a film. Exposing the film to light won't do. The interesting question though, is how Superman might destroy that film. metwin1

Thanks, guys I wasn't so sure how well it'd turn out---I was getting ready to shut down and go to bed, and all of a sudden my Muse started pestering me! Next thing I know, it's 2:00 and I'm still up! MeTwin1, I'm chagrined. I prolly should've know that, esp. since I'm taking a film course. Well, now I'm stumped. I'll have to think about how to change that. In the mean time, I hope that blooper doesn't keep everyone from getting the story's full effect...whatever the effect is (I shouldn't write when I'm half asleep!) . Thanks for pointing that out. When a magnetic tape exceeds its "Curie temperature" it randomizes the magnetic particles, effectively erasing the recording, so all Supes would have to do is heat the tape a little until the magnetic particles scrambled.
It might heat the tape compartment of the camera somewhat, but considering how precise Supes is supposed to be, it shouldn't damage the camera, or even scorch the tape.

Hi, Father and son stared at cameraman. Cameraman stared at father and son. Finally, the son tentatively reached up and waved. Carter returned the wave. They turned to look at Superman.
Superman stared at the camera, his expression unreadable. He looked at Carter and seemed to size him up. Then, much to Carter’s relief, Superman smiled. The hero waved at Carter, and Cater waved back.
Carter continued to wave as the hero and his son flew off together, disappearing into the horizon. Where they went, he would never know. Beautiful! MAF

Oh, this was fun!! I liked everything about it-- the cameraman's initial disbelief re both seeing Superman in the first place, and then seeing Superman apparently commit murder. This was funny, and reminiscent of cartoons, where they pan casually past something out of place and then do the double-take: He adjusted his telescopic lens, following the eagle as it dove and swooped, past peaks and crags and Superman… And knowing very little about film, I found it believable that Superman could somehow have erased the tape, by heat or otherwise. The stare-down and the waves were pretty funny, too. On to your grocery list! ~Toc
