Welcome back, Anne! I've read a number of your stories on the archives. I thought 'Not All Geese Are Wild' was one of the most touching, heart-wrenching pieces I've ever read in any genre.

And this shows us that you haven't lost your touch! I really thought these were Lois's thoughts until the very last sentence. You are just a little bit evil aren't you? But it's a 'good' kind of evil, really. It does show us that Lex never changed, never altered his approach to women or to marriage in general. (Although I thought he and Arianna were married on board a ship by the captain, according to the series.)

Nevertheless, this is an excellent comeback piece. I hope, for we the readers's sakes, you don't go on such a long hiatus again any time soon.

Count me as another of your fans, Anne. What Terry said about your previous stories. smile

And oops - I read this too carelessly the first time because I missed the twist! Can I blame it on the earliness of the day? Anyway, well done, Anne. clap

You had me fooled until the last line too--it sounded so much like Lois throughout that I never even thought it might've been Arianna. Great job!

Knowing your work, I figured there'd be a twist at the end and that this was probably Arianna, but it was very well written. It showed Lex through his first wife's eyes, and reinforced the kind of callous, self-centered sociopath that Lex really was -- and what would probably have happened to Lois had she married him. Once the challenge was gone, she would have been just one more female in his life who didn't matter anymore.
