Carol, this was a great part. I loved to see Lois and Clark connect emotionally. I think Lois' concerns about finding "the guy" after already being married. Looking forward to seeing the next part!

You're breaking my heart, Carol!

No really, great part. It didn't even occur to me that Lois might be crying in a chair multiple nights a week. So sad! mecry But I'm glad they're starting to talk about some of these things...And don't even get me started on Lois just allowing Clark to love her and feeling deserving enough for it...or Clark hearing his parents' heartbeats stop! You've got a lot of angst up your sleeve, woman.

I'll have to go back later and see if I can spot the things you pointed out...way too emotional of a read the first time around. :p :p

I have practically no time at all for feedback, but... lovely part, Carol. I loved how Lois and Clark were able to show one another their deepest hurts and fears, and how they were able to be there for each other.

Your Lois and clark are both lovely, have I said that?

Hmmm. I used to have a secret fantasy about how Superman took Lois on a picnic somewhere to an open, lovely, sunny place, where they could be all alone. And there they would make love. You have to admit that it wouldn't be immoral in any way whatever if Lois and Clark had done that at the end of this part, but I suppose that Lois isn't ready for it.

Great the the other parts smile

The key line: I can't help but worry it's buried in the part about being trapped, divorce and no sex.

The bunnies: Lana trying to get Clark.

Bonus points to anyone who:... Recognizes the line that sparked two fun plot bunnies - one of which has a few pages written [no Alisha - you can't guess]
What, just because you told me the plot bunnies and I've read those few pages? razz )

Carol, I just reread my post and I had to cringe a little at the nonsensical comments that I wrote. That'll teach me to post feedback when I'm taking on the phone.

But this was a great part, and although I was talking on the phone while writing feedback for you, I wasn't when I was reading it. I wouldn't be able to, that's how good it was. wink

Okay - nobody's gotten them yet - but that's okay. It's like Beth said in her thread - they're glaring to me but... [and the one to Alisha - she could probably pick out the other one too but it might take more thought]. I'll post them with the next chapter tomorrow.

Beth - I did read your first post a couple times, then shrugged and moved on wink . Phone posting... never good...

JD - angst? Moi? No, that's people like Wendy [I love her avatar! My fandom eats angst for breakfast.] or so many others... I have to give credit for the whole first half of this to Alisha. I'd planned on going from the elevator to graduation, but she wanted to see Lois dealing with her parents leaving/dying - even though they weren't great parents, there has to be something to work through so you [and I] can thank Alisha for that. I didn't think it would come on out of the blue so when Lois told me she'd been crying over it a couple times a week, it didn't surprise me at all wink .

Ann - well, not in this part, but maybe someday... wink I'll keep it in mind... I'm glad you are enjoying these two smile . I loved writing them at this point in their relationship.

Michael - you're on to something [sort of] with the Lana plot bunny. And the other one is probably in that segment somewhere, but I'm not sure without looking.

Alisha - fine. No feedback. I take back everything I said above.

Okay - part 9 is ready to go and I'll post it tomorrow with the answers to those.

Thanks again everyone!

I’m so glad that Lois has found a measure of peace in sharing her deepest fears and wonders with Clark. Grief shared provides such a measure of healing. Their conversation reminds me of that old poem, “When you love something, set it free. If it comes back to you it was yours. If it doesn’t, it was never meant to be.”

Quote
Her eyes closed, just for a minute and then she wanted to talk to him some more.
I had to read this four or five times before I understood what you had intended. It read like she only closed her eyes for a minute and then resumed talking, not that she only *intended* to close her eyes for a minute.

Lana is even more of a jerk than I realized. Clark offers Lois unconditional love and Lana tries to trap him.

Clark’s dreams of going on a legitimate date put a smile on my face. It reminded me of “Daddy dates” where the Dad puts on his best suit and slips out the kitchen door, walks around the house and rings the doorbell to pick up his 10-yr-old daughter. After a promise to the mother to get his princess home at X:00 he takes her out for a chocolate shake, all the while treating her with his best manners so that she learns how a gentleman should behave on a date (and will dump anyone who treats her with less respect when she grows up). I like how he’s saving up his money, plotting and daydreaming.

And then you dish up your cliffhanger. The good news is that I’ve already downloaded part nine.
