I think I wrote that part about the 2yo the week before my 2yo turned 3. She has no clue what it means. You're right about the family thing. Visiting family - three days can be the limit, but as a daily part of your living relationships is different. This is also 20 years ago - we're *still* working against the 'she must have asked for it' stigma - though I think that's a less pervasive attitude than before. I am so sorry to hear about what your mother went through - I can't imagine it. And you're right - big picture isn't always the focus.
