Oh my goodness! I loved the whole chapter, but the last line really got me. I'm not sure why. Maybe just because I know Lois has a lot of questions for him and I presume most are more about her or his relationships with other women, but this really surprised me.

And I think perhaps it shows some level of moving on for Lois that she can focus now on the fact that this happened to them and not just to her.

I have only spent one day in Istanbul (also on a cruise like Lois and Clark), and I loved it. So I was really curious to see what their impressions were of it (of course, I have no idea if you've been there or done enough research to feel confident that you could write that), but I'm so over that anyway.

Now, I really want to see what comes next in this conversation. I can't believe I need to wait for Monday. Maybe that was a typo and you meant Saturday? Or even later today? Now, perhaps?

What a lot of progress in this chapter! Clark finally feels able to acknowledge -- to Lois, no less! -- that he does feel sexually frustrated, and he's able to do that while still reassuring her that nothing will happen until she's ready. And then Lois gets up her courage to start asking him questions from the list that she made on the plane. When she made the list, she wasn't sure she'd ever be able to ask him those things. And it's been how long? Two weeks?

This getting away from Metropolis, just the two of them, appears to have been an excellent idea. I can't wait to see what happens when they hit the more remote locations and they're REALLY alone, which is quite different from the relatively safe environment of a cruise ship.

That part where she was surreptitiously checking him out by the pool, and he totally knew it? SO great!

The last line in the chapter was just brilliant. Perfect. Wow.

Monday, huh? I'm not sure I can hold my breath for that long... wink

"She said that even though what happened, happened to me in that I was the one that he attacked, but that I shouldn't forget that you were affected to. Maybe not like I was or not to the same extent, but that it's affected you too."

He waited for her to go on.

"So..." She took a deep breath. "...how are you?"
Finally! I thought Lois would never remember that Clark has been affected by what she almost experienced.

Very sweet chapter.

Loved their honest conversations thumbsup

If she had to move heaven and Earth, perhaps come back to haunt Perry and explain the story after they'd killed her, she would do it.

Hell of an ending! Ah, I love a good deep conversation. I could BS all I want, but really, I don't even think I expected Lois' last question to surface.

I had to grin at Clark and his Orcas. It's just very...Clark to make friends with a pack of whales while he's trying to cool off LOL.

Istanbul. Lois would love it. Really Turkey would be my favorite country in the world to go on an eating spree LOL. Every lamb dish just melts in your mouth in a pile of all that is holy and glorified...Ahem. I'll stop talking about food now.

Great part!

What an excellent chapter! Carol, you are certainly the queen of B-plots. Or maybe I'm underestimating you, maybe you have this amazing ability to write long chapters that stay totally interesting all the time. (Not that I think you just grab that out of a hat - they say that what a person needs to be successful is 10% inspiration and 90% transpiration due to all the hard work you put in...)

Lois, standing there, on the railing, hair blowing – much like what he was actually seeing – but instead of wearing pajama pants and a T-shirt, she was wearing one of his dress shirts. A white one. And precious little else.
I can't help it, this was a Titanic moment for me! With Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet!

I know, what we have in your story is not the same thing at all as this scene, but I was reminded of it, that's for sure.

The conversation between Lois and Clark was superb. You wrote it so that we felt every emotion of theirs, and you gently manoevered them past treacherous cliffs towards greater and greater honesty and trust. Once again Lois got to ask Clark if he thought of leaving her, and she admitted that not even she really believed that he would. And Clark gently admitted that, indeed, today he had not been able to stop thinking about sleeping with her. And Lois admitted to herself that she was glad that Clark wanted her that way, even if the thought still made her very uncomfortable. And she got up the courage she needed to ask Clark if he fantasized about that night when Paul had almost raped her and he, Clark, had seen her almost naked. And he told her that he didn't allow himself to think about that, because that would have been a further violation of her. And Lois asked him if he would have left her alone with Perry and Alice to answer all their questions, and she asked him other questions about Mayson. And she asked what he would do if she died. It was totally engrossing all the time.

And finally she asked the question. The question about him. The question about how he was doing.

He waited for her to go on.

"So..." She took a deep breath. "...how are you?"
Lois has been so focused on her own sorrow and abandonment and suffering. Now, finally, she is ready to ask about Clark.

Lois is learning to love.

Carol,
I just came home from vacation last night and spent half of the night reading to catch up.
I totally loved the last few chapters and the progress Lois and Clark have made in their relationship. It is also a relief to see what great friends they have, that they aren't alone.
This new chapter in their life is definitely an exciting one! For the couple but for the readers as well. smile1

I am looking into going on a Mediterranean cruise possibly this fall so I am looking forward to seeing their trip. laugh

I enjoy your portrayal (even if it is painful at times) of this insecure, vulnerable Lois very much and am proud of how hard she is working on being honest with Clark. The last line totally blew me away!

So today is Monday, when are we getting our fix? dance

Okay, okay, don't lynch me. It's been a long week and I've been agonizing over part of the next chapter and the chapter of LtL that I've been working on has been like pulling teeth until Carolyn finally broke the logjam for me with comments that she made on Tuesday [? I think] but they had to roll around in the ol' noggin until last night and I finally started making some progress. That doesn't mean I haven't been writing however. Thanks also go to Carolyn for helping me plot one that is tentatively called "On the Other Hand" [though I haven't checked the archive yet so it's possible there's lik 14 others called that and I'll change it]. I had *one* scene pop into my head fully formed and I figured if I got it down 'on paper', I could focus on LtL again because it kept pushing it's way to the front. But no. It's now something like 75 pages longer than it was [I already had about 25 pages done], but inspiration struck yesterday that connects another vignette I'd worked on a while ago to it as back story. Don't you love it when things come together?

Anyway, I *finally* made some progress on LtL yesterday and I think I've *finally* decided about a snippet of conversation in the next chapter, but my head still hurts so I'm not sure.

And all of that will probably appear in the next story post too so... wink

On to FDK:

Anon - Lois is moving forward. Finally smile . And I did work some of what you told me about Istanbul in later iirc.

Carolyn - She's been working on that list - sort of since she first discovered Clark and Mayson together. She started compiling it into a real list at some point after the attack. It's been two days since the plane where she was thinking about it.

Cp33 - Thank Elisabeth for that too wink .

AnKS - Glad you did!

JD - Yes, Clark and his Orcas. Isn't it so Clark? It's not the last time we'll hear about them...

Michael - nope sure didn't. wink

Ann - LOL! 'I'M KING OF THE WORLD!!!!' or something. And wow - dunno about queen, but thank you! Lois is learning to love smile .

Natascha - hope you had a good vacation! Ooo Med cruise. I would love it. It may not happen in this lifetime but... And Monday? What Monday? /me looks around trying to look innocent

UW - Tuesday? What Tuesday? I think all the little pointy stick guys got washed away in the rain

Mel - Thursday? What Thursday? Okay! I will update I promise!

Thanks guys!

Hi Carol. I'm terribly sorry the village got destroyed during the rain. Please, allow me to send some relief troops.

wildguy wildguy wildguy wildguy wildguy

Michael, who fully well understands the trouble you have with Muses not willing to cooperate on a chapter and still doesn't care as long as it's someone else's wink

EDIT: Ok, you've just posted and I have no idea how to finagle this one into my schedule tonight. Oh well, something to read tomorrow morning when I wake up. Unless I can't go to sleep without reading it.
