I like it. You have a lot of nice emotion in here, and I can really hear these as Clark's thoughts. The final line makes you really ache for him.

I'm not sure what story it was supposed to be a prequel to, but I think I'd like to read it. Have you posted it, here or elsewhere? If so, I hope you'll post a link.

This has a wonderful feel to it. I feel the fear in Clark's voice. I've always thought that was what dominated much of his relationship with Lois early on.

This seems to have a similar feel as your "From the Beginning." Is that the companion to this?
