I would marry him too!!!
Hate to deviate from the party line, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't marry him.

Lois' cultural acclimation is proceeding very nicely - too nicely, if you ask me. I think she's gonna bust a move on Nor before too much longer, and her new abilities (they're coming, really they are) will shock him to his core. She's going to reveal some serious shenanigans by Nor and his cronies, and there will be a change in the leadership of New Krypton. And probably a real revolution in the social structure, too.

Problem is - I don't think that change will be bloodless and peaceful. Nor's plans are too far along, too well-established, too pervasive for him to just smile and nod and cheer the Supreme Ruler's new love. He's this planet's Lex Luthor, and I bet you dollars to donuts that he's got contingency plans in place that would surprise everyone, even Lois. The one saving grace is that Earth didn't blow up, so he won't have any glowing Earthite to use against her, especially since he has no clue about her new-found abilities.

And there's still that problem of finding fresh water to deal with. There's still that problem of lingering sectionalism to resolve. There's still the NK laws concerning what the Supreme Ruler can and cannot do. And while Kal is sure to be willing to follow the law, Nor is not. There's still lots of potential for serious trouble brewing.

I'm ready for Kal's response, even if it's "Lois, I don't read your language, but I'm pretty sure that's not what that letter really says."

hyper Yay Lois asked him to propose again!

I loved this part!

Superpowers will be handy when they have to fight against Nor!

But I still think that wasn't the whole secret ... laugh

I'm happy that you enjoy your visit with your daughter.

And I'm with Vicky and Em, I would marry him, too! laugh

I think Lois could make a good argument to herself for marrying Kal on the grounds that his marriage to Za is not really valid by Earth standards since it was never consumated.

I do think she would have problems with Kal fathering children with Za. The reason for wanting to be the one true wife is not only sexual and emotional exclusivity; it is also maintaining the father's exclusive loyalty to the wife's children. A blended family where the second wife becomes stepmother to the father's already existing children is *not* the same as accepting that he is willing to father future children with another woman.

And, as has been pointed out, it's not fair to Za, either. She needs to be free to find her own love. Of course, Za hasn't really lost anything if Kal marries Lois. It's not as if she would be free to find someone else if Lois had never landed on NK. Nor did she ever have the right to expect Kal's fidelity under NK law or culture. Still, it would be nice to see her get her shot at happiness, too.

I'm with Terry on the letter. Anyone with any understanding of written language would take one look at Lois's letter and know that it is a lot longer than what she told Kal. She hasn't really fooled him; just redirected him--quite effectively, I'll bet.

This *is* my happily ever after.

Thanks for your answers smile

There are some aspects to this marriage that need to be worked out - Lois is aware of it - even Kal is aware of it, although probably to a lesser degree.

Thanks to everyone for your comments.

Corrina.
