Excellent part. It was nice to come onto the site and see the next part posted. I love how Kal continues to surprise Lois. “Some,” Kal said. “I don’t require too many details of him ... then if the Cabinet asks me what he is doing, I can truthfully be vague.” Lois felt her mouth gape. Kal *did* understand something of the game of politics." I love it. Kathy www.chili-everyway.com

I'm glad you had such a great trip! I love this story! I like how Kal got an uneasy feeling when Lois was in danger, just like how Clark would always feel uneasy. We haven't heard from the mother under a yellow sun for awhile. I'm VERY curious at how that will play out.

RL is going to kill me for the next two months up until Christmas, so here's some mini-FDK: Great part! I guess I was expecting more to be revealed here, but that would be like eating all one's candy all at once and then have nothing left. You slowed the story down and allowed us to really feel how much Lois and Kal were in awe of Lois's superpowers. And that is how they would have felt if this had been for real. (And the erotic tension between them is very real, and yet so sweet and almost innocent. That doens't mean I don't think that there will be a whole lot of fireworks on their wedding night, however!) And Kal knows that there's more to Tek than meets the eye! Now I want to know what Tek's secret is, too. Ann

Yay it's here! And it is a great little chapter. I am glad you are home safe and that you had a good trip. I am in love with this story and will look forward to the next part. Heat vision should be interesting if she develops that. I hope she doesn't accidentally burn Kal! But I am kind of looking forward to her peeking<g> laura

I really like the way you're portraying Lois and Kal's reaction to Lois's newly developed super-powers. Clark Kent developed them slowly over time in childhood when it was a scary thing for him to be so different. Lois Lane, otoh, is not just an adult, but an adult who is more fearless than most (not to mention one who can take landing on a strange planet in stride!), so I like that she's accepting and adapting to those powers so quickly. She's still surprised, no question, but she's not thinking, "What are they going to do to me?", but rather, "What can I do with them?", which is pretty cool and very Lois. “I don’t require too many details of him ... then if the Cabinet asks me what he is doing, I can truthfully be vague.” I think this line was my favorite part of this chapter. So much of the story is focused on Kal's emotional innocence, so I love it when we get glimpses of the fact that, while he has been sheltered, he is not naive and ignorant of what is going on around him. He is a strong leader who understands a lot more than others give him credit for. And that, combined with his new secret "weapon" (Lois's insight, with a dash of her super-sight thrown in for good measure), gives me confidence that Kal will ultimately triumph over Nor. But I still want to find out what Tek was doing and what Nor is up to and when Lois is going to tell Kal about the water and ... ahhhhh, I need more of this story. It's completely addictive. Kathy

Lois turned in a slow, controlled movement. Half a rotation later, she noticed an arc that appeared lighter than everything else. Could that be the way up? Lab? Then her head broke the surface and she saw the cliffs looming above her. Okay, no lab Because if he didn’t – if he allowed himself even the tiniest gap in his thoughts - his mind would flood with the image of how Lois’s wet gown had clung to the mesmerizing curves of her body. Oh. So, not so coarse and heavy after all... Poor Kal, he is probably very confused right now. Although, given the educational materials he has found, probably not so much confused as experiencing *other* feelings. Her heart melted at his obvious concern. “Yes,” she assured him. Then she grinned. “If you ask me one more time, I’m going to take off this gown and let you check ... just so you stop bugging me.” Lois went to the desk drawer and retrieved the comb Riz had given her. She offered it to Kal. “With this.” She left her comb at Kal's? “So you ensure he has plenty of time to do other things?”
“Yes.”
“Do you know what *other* things he does?”
“Some,” Kal said. “I don’t require too many details of him ... then if the Cabinet asks me what he is doing, I can truthfully be vague.” Great part, Corrina Wonder how long it's going to take her to mention the aquifer. Michael

Yay, what a nice surprise this was after a hard day at work . Another lovely part (goes without saying but I will anyway!) with lots of moments and some wonderful flirtatious, teasing humour thrown in. They are so relaxed around each other now. Despite their unusual backgrounds and circumstances, when they're inside Kal's room, their own little universe, they find their security and normality. Of course we knew Lois would survive, and we were pretty sure we knew how. She seems to have realised too that her new abilities must stretch beyond x-ray vision, certainly having some awareness of at least partial invulnerability. She doesn't seem to quite know yet *how* she survived, as in how she got back onto the cliff. Did she subconciously fly? I think she must have done, but it seems that is yet to dawn on her. I agree with Kathy that Lois is very in-character in how she is accepting her powers and seeing the potential benefits, rather than fearing. Kal's unconditional devotion has no doubt helped her to feel less self-concious about them, and in this part they were even joking about them which was great! I think the Lois in the show was more scared of the powers because she was fully aware of what they entailed and what they meant. She also had such a shining example to follow. This Lois has never known anyone else to have these abilities, she can set her own precedent, and of course, she has never seen the down side, which show-Lois had seen through Clark's experiences. She didn’t want to leave Kal.
She *couldn’t* leave Kal.
Her death would devastate him. I found this really heartbreaking, as although I knew she would be ok, I could imagine how desolate Kal would feel without her. I love that her thoughts and concerns were for him, showing the depth of her love. “Worried!” he exclaimed on a gushing breath. “I was frantic. I knew you were in danger. I knew you needed help, but I didn’t know where you were and I couldn’t find you ... and I was so scared for you.” He glanced down. “I was so scared for me.” Aww!!! Poor Kal, little does he know this is a quiet day for Lois Lane. She's been pretty tame when it comes to danger since she arrived on New Krypton. Lois considered agreeing just to ease his anxiety. Except, she was going to feel acutely foolish when they diagnosed nothing more serious than excessive moisture – with perhaps a dash of recklessness. I just adored these closing lines. Every time I can see the end of a part getting close I'm reluctant to scroll down, thinking, 'no, don't end yet, not here!' Even though this wasn't a cliffhanger, I am really excited for Part 23. There are still so many questions. You answer some and create some more! That's one of the many reasons it's so easy to write FDK about this fic, there is so much to discuss, you really get us thinking. There's still a lot Lois needs to tell Kal about her trip to the cliffs, and then there's the wedding to plan, and wedding night!!! Ooh, more soon, please, please, please! Em

Kathy Thanks for your FDK. I'm glad the layers of Kal's personality are coming through clearly. lcfan I've had the next installment from the mother ready to go for awhile, but the chapter breaks haven't really left a perfect gap to slip it in. You'll hear from her again soon though. Thanks. Ann Sorry to hear you're going to be so busy. You slowed the story down It such a relief when readers accept a change of pace - particularly a slower section. You've heard of the calm before the storm, right? Laura But I am kind of looking forward to her peeking <g> IIRC, Clark managed to keep his self-control until after they were married, but Lois as Ultra Woman took a peek. So if this Lois did likewise, there shouldn't be too many problems, should there? Thanks, Laura. Kathy She's still surprised, no question, but she's not thinking, "What are they going to do to me?", but rather, "What can I do with them?", which is pretty cool and very Lois. Great explanation. I also really appreciate your comments about Kal. Yes, he has some gaps in his experience and knowledge, but he is also a man who has led his planet through many difficulties. Michael You're right about the material - it is coarse and heavy (and close to shapeless). When wet, it wouldn't cling like a T-shirt for instance, but would still be more revealing than Kal is used to. Why do I have the picture of her, looking away and dragging her foot through the dirt? Any objections if something similar to this finds its way into my story? It's perfect. She left her comb at Kal's? When a girl owns only one comb, it has to be kept where it is most likely to be needed. Kal doesn't go into her room in the concubine quarters! Emma Thanks for your comments, Emma. Did she subconciously fly? The cliff is not that big - only a few yards. She didn't fly, but climbed up it - which still required more strength than is normal considering she has a wet and bulky gown to impede her progress. I think Lois would normally have chosen her words more carefully, in light of their decision to wait before taking their relationship any further on a physical level. She felt comfortable enough in the circumstances though to have some fun. With the wedding only days away and having just escaped from what could have been a life-threatening situation, I thought Lois indulging in a little flirting would be OK. Thanks so much, Emma. Corrina.

Hi FH! I don't have much time for detailed feedback these days, but wanted to pop in and say I'm still reading this story and enjoying it very much.
I thought Lois's closing line was remarkable. Think about what she's saying: that meeting Kal and loving him is more important than everything she has lost--her family, her friends, her home, her career, her culture, her possessions, her entire world. That's saying something truly profound.
This *is* my happily ever after.
