I'm really dying over here waiting for the "Superman" idea to come to Clark or his parents. I don't think that it will, but it's terrible that he's going through all this angst when the solution is so obvious...at least to me.

Actually, what I really want is for Lois to come up with the idea because that means he will have told her his secret!

For what it's worth, I'm glad he stayed at the hearing...I kept dreading that he was going to decide to leave. And when everyone else showed up, that would've made his absence even worse.

Now when are you going to get him some training? He needs to spend some time learning about rescue work.
Perhaps Lois could get the internship and Clark can go spend the summer overseas with the peace corp or doing disaster relief with the Red Cross.

He needs to hear the speech about limits, and every little contribution and the whole being greater than the sum of the parts and so much more.

I don't generally leave much fdk, and I haven't commented on this story because I'm waiting to see where it goes. They're still so young and inexperienced at life! What is going to happen with the internship? Is Lois going to get into trouble and need the Boy in Black to save her? Is he going to invent Superman (or Superboy) before he actually starts working at the Daily Planet? I'm sure you will eventually give us the answers to all these questions. I look forward to seeing the rest of the story.

So important to learn. He has to develop a little emotional armor. But he wouldn't be Superman (or will be) if he didn't care.

I like how you show the young Clark facing this problem and I'll be interested to see how he slowly grows and becomes more proficient at dealing with it.

My apologies in advance if this is not completely coherent. I am severely sleep deprived at the moment and can't think straight, but need to stop sleeping during the day...

Amber - The Superman idea will be born in this fic, although not quite yet. Soon, though, I think - in that I have through 48 written (I got a lot done in the last week or two) and I think I'm getting close. I hope so anyway...

No word on whose idea it is, though. I have more than one person in mind.

Patrick - Thanks. I did think it was important to have Clark stay if for no other reason than I didn't want his relationship with Lois to read like a rewrite of his relationship with Maddie even if he's struggling with many of the same issues.

You are right - Clark needs some training, but I'm not sure we'll see him get that much of it. I haven't fully determined where this story is going to end, but I don't think we'll have a fully formed Superman at the end of it. Just a Clark clearly on his way there.

Michael - You know, I never considered that Clark could peek at Paul's undies. Could all the information needed be contained in one book?
