Oh, that was so sweet! What a great idea for the story! And I'm betting they make it to a planet with a yellow sun!
cool

That was so lovely and sweet and romantic. I am a pile of mush

I am really looking forward to how this story moves forward. This chapter was a beautiful interlude

Yes, interlude is the perfect word. What a wonderful idea for the two of them to have a special evening together, something for them to remember with warmth and sweetness regardless of whatever their very uncertain future might bring. Having lost so much, they have gained each other, and I imagine that neither one of them regrets the exchange. It makes me think of the pearl of great price--something worth everything else. The price is real, but the gain is immeasurably greater.

Very sweet and tender chapter, Corrina! And so soon after the last one hyper

Quote
Kal smiled and touched the back of his finger to the tip of her nose. “If I’d taken you on a date, if I’d eaten chocolate with you and danced with you, I know exactly what I would want to do when we got home.”
And they are so adorable together wink

What a beautiful part! I love the way they used ordinary things to have an extraordinary date. It reminded me of the wedding. clap

I still think it would have been a bit cruel to tear a 15 year old away from the only family he ever knew, but maybe Kip decided it was for the greater good.

Whatever happened with the Translators that Tek's children had that worked off of their mother's Translator? Something was supposed to happen in two weeks or so, but I don't know how long it's been since then.

If you decide to end this story with the two of them landing on Earth, you have got to promise us a sequel!

I worry about how Kal will be able to fit in if they do end up on Earth, but I suspect you have something planned that will take care of any problems.

I am still loving this story.

Well I loved it of course, who wouldn't? Now I am thinking that he has been on Earth and with Martha and they return there. I suppose Doc Klein could help get his memories back, and then all would be well. He of course will gain the powers that Lois loses. Wonderful story, I hope their trip isn't too long in the cramped space ship. Maybe they can just universe hop in it or something related to the time machine. There are endless possibilities and I will allow all of them to lull me into sleep tonight. Laura

No, no. Thank *you*. Seeing them on a date was really sweet, even if there was an element of sadness.

Sorry I don't have time for more right now, but suffice it to say that I can't wait until Tek arrives in the morning. I still want to see more of what's happening topside (maybe Za can follow Tek to see them off?).

I also can't wait to see where the ship is programmed to take them. Wouldn't it be a hoot if Earth was just a red herring and they ended up on the fourth moon of Endor, or something...
dizzy

Come back with more soon. You spoiled us with a post two days in a row and now I'm feeling greedy.

Artemis Thanks, Artemis. A yellow sun, eh? wink

Kathy Thanks - you're right, it was an interlude.

Happy Very true about the pearl of great price. Thanks.

Sarah Thanks!

Michael Yes, it was soon. See note below.

Thanks, Michael.

lcfan The two weeks isn't up yet, but if Tek takes the position on the cabinet, there will be very little oppositon to any scientific progress he instigates.

A sequel? My intention is to tie up everything here so a sequel isn't necessary.

Thanks!

cookiesmom You raise a good point about Kal fitting in to a new environment - and one where he won't be the top dog.

Thanks.

Laura Don't expect any explanation about how they get to where they are going! Remember this is a universe where anything is possible and explanations would slow down the story.

(That's my reasoning, and I'm sticking to it wink )

However, those with a scientific mind are welcome to speculate!

Brenda You keep suggesting things that you haven't read, but that I have already written!!

Thanks!

I posted 35 on Sunday evening because I knew Mon, Tue and Wed would be really busy for me. I have just sent 38 to Iolanthe and will post 36 the next time I get a spare hour. Tonight (12 hours from now) is a possibility. If not, tomorrow morning.

Thanks,

Corrina.

Just caught up with the last three parts. This story is amazing! The pace is perfect, and their date was so sweet.

Anything else I have to say would just be more gushing smile so I'm just going to wait anxiously for the next part!

Sorry it took me awhile to respond, Amber. I do appreciate you leaving FDK.

Comments about the pace being right are particularly appreciated - finding the balance between confusion and boredom isn't always easy.

I had thought that the two weeks was important because it would allow Nor to take his position as Supreme Ruler before both sides had full communication with each other. He wanted the civil war and was willing to do what it took to stand in the way of peace.

Exactly right, Elisabeth.

The two years of trial would have been up before the time Nor could claim the mantle. He knew that when he was the SR, he could simply find a way to not approve the use of the annex - thereby keeping the younger generation of the north and the south from being able to communicate.
