Don't you hate it when you get into a race-condition on posting?
I've had the opportunity to work with RL military scientists and mission planners. I think as a group they get more undeserved abuse than almost any group on television. In my experience they are intelligent and thoughtful people.
In the show, the work that went into the Nightfall intercept mission was ridiculous. The genesis of the idea for this story was the absurdity of having Superman simply ram himself into Nightfall at full speed. Whatever that is, it's not a plan.
