I like it! Clark doesn't strike me as out of control; after all, he was told to run for his life, and that is just what he did. And if he was frightened; well, he apparently isn't invulnerable yet (or if he is, he doesn't realize it). And he had just had one gun pointed at him, by someone he knew. So of course he would be scared when a stranger comes toward him with his hand on a gun.
