Wow, CC. My heart is kind of pounding!!! I can't believe Clark did it - kissed Lane! I have to tell you, I'm biting my fingernails. I have this really creepy feeling that AltClark and Lois and Clark and Lane might stay all mixed up and be OK with it - yikes! Of course, if everyone is happy and if "a" Lois is with "a" Clark, then I guess that might be...OK? Well, you've got me sitting on the edge of my seat. Not a hint or anything, but I would just love a scene where all of the Loises and Clarks end up in one room together <g>. Great job ratcheting up the tension. Lynn

CC, my heart is definitely still pounding!! Tank may not consider it one, but as far as I'm concerned, that's a wham! Not necessarily the fact that it happened, because it could have been a reflex thing...but you've taken that option away from us. And although I think alt-Clark is really sweet and Lane doesn't bug me nearly as much as she used to... NO! There's no way that I want to see this scenario that Tank has been floating by for a couple of segments now, and now even Lynn thinks might be OK. (C'mon, Lynn, don't desert the ship here!) Lois Lanes and Clark Kents are NOT interchangeable commodities. Nervous as I am about all this, I am still absolutely *adoring* this story. The exchange with Bernie in alt-Metropolis was terrific. And my heart went out to Lane in her encounter with Ellen. I like Lynn's idea of all four of them together somehow in the same room. Of course, you only have two segments left, so I'm not urging you to do any major rewriting or anything here. Quite frankly, I'm hoping that it's not necessary, because I'm hoping that you have already fixed this big switcheroo on your own. Things are definitely getting down to the wire, and the tension levels are very high. Maybe I should double up on my blood pressure medication, just in case... Can't wait until Wednesday... Kathy

Too many great lines here! I love the idea that Jimmy was "late" for his interruption. And Ellen Lane was written superbly. (Talk about forecasting trouble!)
As tough as it is to read, the characters need to understand and change in order to achieve "transformation" to happily ever after. So I'm with you through whatever pain it takes.
Keep 'er coming!
Best, Sherry

Yeah! Ditto everyone! I don't think you've decided that Lois Lanes and Clark Kents are interchangeable; you've given us enough clues in relation to AltClark and Lois to make that clear. But, while not interchangeable, they are similar enough to be confusable in the right - or maybe wrong - circumstances. Hurry up and post more!! Wendy

Hi, Great part.
Maria D. Ferdez. --- Don't like Luthor, unfinished, untitled and crossover story, and people that promises and don't deliver. I'm getting choosy with age. MAF

Interesting developments here. Kind of scary for Clark. I'd like to bring up a point here that people seem to be harping on. The interchangability of Lois and Clarks. They aren't. I don't believe they are either, BUT... The series provided us with a basis for an attraction between Lois and Clarks. In the show it was presented that both Lois and altClark felt something between them even though they both knew that they weren't 'their' other half. This leads to the question of circumstance. Given the choice of their own world's version of the other or the alternate version we all agree that our protagonists would choose their own world's counterpart. But what if they didn't have that choice. What if the other person was dead (or thought to be)? Or, if it were thought that there was no way to reunite? What then? The attraction may not be exactly the same as it would be for the 'proper' partner, but it's been established that there would be an attraction. So, in the absence of the 'real' thing, who better to hook up with than the 'near' thing. A different person who is enough like the original to foster a comfort level, yet is individual enough to offer some interesting differences. Seems like a no-brainer to me. Tank (who actually thinks it would be funny if Clark wound up with both Loises)

Which Clark ends up with two Loises, Tank?
CC, this is fantastic. I like the way Clark and Lane relate to each other.
I think that Lois was wise to tell alt-Clark that he should have gotten rid of her clothes, etc.
Can't wait to see how they get back to their appropriate universes.

While I read this at work (which I really shouldn't, but hey, it was a slow news day <g>) and it made me smile. You're setting this up so wonderfully and I totally understand Clark here. And that whole scene with Ellen was great. But I do feel sorry for Lane she'll never get a chance to learn about what could have been her mother. Let Clark at least take her to Smallville then! She deserves that much now, especially at the speed she's helping find Tempus. Looking forward to tomorrow! (hoping for another slow newsday ) Saskia

Just two more parts!
And hats-off to you faithful readers who have been wading through part after part. Thank you.
Lynn- you haven't mentioned yet that Lane has become more sympathetic to you. I'm not pushing my viewpoint, of course, just there she is with her "dead" mom and all, poor, poor thing. That must have been worth two sympathy points? (/me looks hopeful?) Either way, you're still here, and I'm glad.
Tank, Found your "attraction" and "circumstances" comments to be really interesting. I have to say these two stories were really born out of the idea that the only real potential romantic foil for Lois and Clark, besides themselves, was...the other Clark. Not Lex, Dan (shudder), Max (bigger shudder), Mayson, etc...
Gerry, welcome back!
Saskia, you read this at work. This is going around. Sherry BR'ed a bit at work, and I slipped out of a meeting- which had gotten somewhat unproductive- to just do a quick check of my "email," i.e. feedback folder. Let's not all get fired.
Maria, a big thanks to you for the extra info. So kind of you, and so needed!
Kathy,Sherry,Wendy,Jose,Julia, and Tricia- thank you for you thoughtful comments, and for staying with things this far. Almost there.
CC
