Cute story. I wonder what tipped Lois off. Maybe Superman relaxed too much around her and started acting more like Clark? I'd consider this waffy because it gives me warm fuzzies and smiles. Despite Lois being upset, it's not angsty. I like how neither of them says what they're actually talking about, but by the end it seems that they both know that Lois means that CK=SM, but they're agreeing to deal with it later. Which is funny because if they acknowledged it now, Clark could open the door and get them out. I guess Lois is just enjoying her time alone with Clark.
"It is a remarkable dichotomy. In many ways, Clark is the most human of us all. Then...he shoots fire from the skies, and it is difficult not to think of him as a god. And how fortunate we all are that it does not occur to him." -Batman (in Superman/Batman #3 by Jeph Loeb)

I like it too. I like how Lois and Clark just dance around the Big Secret, and never say anything outright, but by the end of the fic, they both know.
As ever, it's amazing how you can do such a great story in such a small package! You are the Queen of Conciseness too.

Cute! I think it was perfectly WAFFy, and unexpectedly so! I loved it, and the premise you threw them into.

I liked it. It was sweet and endearing. I liked the talking back and forth about the same thing without really saying it. Well done! And poor Clark for his sacrifice of his ego to allow himself to have a relationship with Lois. Lois thinks she has figured out the truth, but she isn't sure and that's why she doesn't press him for the truth... because we all can she she wants it to be true, and would be heartbroken if she's wrong. You just want to give these guys one big hug for their insecurities and tell them everything will be okay. Why do I picture Clark waiting until Lois is asleep and then breaking the lock, or the wall behind one of the crates, which he'll happen to find in the morning?

Awww I also found it WaFFy, just perfectly so. For me it felt like Lois knew but Clark didn't get that she knew. Very sweet.

This was a true WAFFfest! Still, the depth and sincerity of the characters true feelings for each other comes to the forefront. Well done!

Thanks for the comments, guys! So it's WAFFy? Really?! Even though it's not chocolate-covered puppies, and has Lois and Clark feeling less-than-happy with their current situations? Wow. I'm so glad you guys liked it, though. Virginia: Lois thinks she has figured out the truth, but she isn't sure and that's why she doesn't press him for the truth... because we all can she she wants it to be true, and would be heartbroken if she's wrong. You just want to give these guys one big hug for their insecurities and tell them everything will be okay. Right on the money, and I'm glad it works for the challenge. I honestly thought you were going to be mad at me for writing something too sad to be WAFF. (Any time I tried to write something fluffier, though, I could hear Tempus making gagging noises :p )

This is such a beautiful story! It had me sniffling and 'awwing' throughout, and I love when she admits that she's afraid of Superman leaving and when he says that no matter what happened, he'd forgive and they're both move forward with the knowledge they're both flawed. Such a very wise and good answer! The subtext beneath everything they said was so very well played, too!
Beautifully done!

Hi Queenie! I’m only slightly late with catching up This was supposed to be a response to the No Way Out challenge...but it probably isn't WAFF. I'm not sure what it is, but it isn't chocolate-covered puppies. Oh my! Lois and Lex having dinner? However, it is B-plot, and it does have Lois and Clark locked in a room, etc, so I hope it gets at least partial points for the challenge. Lex having Lois and Clark over for dinner? I tried not to break any of the rules, but some of them did creak ominously, so you'll have to be the judges of how well I succeeded. Michael

Wow, I'm impressed by how much you manage to pack into a little vignette! The idea of Clark dating Lois as Superman in order to keep her away from Lex, but then having to continue being "just a friend" as Clark… ouch. That's gotta be interesting.
I didn't catch the first time through that Lois had mostly figured it all out, though - took a second read after seeing some of the comments, at which point I want "Oh, duh!"
Part of me wants to see more of this storyline, but it's all wrapped up so nicely in this little package that it's better off just like this.
