It's funny how his brain short circuits every time Lois is around. Instead of going with the nice #4, he goes with the worst idea, #2. Whether it works out best for him, we won't know unless there's a sequel or epilogue to this (though I'm not calling for one since it works wonderfully as is).

Yes, Clark sure does seem to lose it when he tries to have a serious conversation with Lois.
I knew when I first thought about responding to the challenge that I would have to use the worst possible line. It just has more interesting possiblities IMHO.
