In my case, the first post has the same picture as Maria, which is 900x619 pixels. For a couple of times, it showed the picture, and then, after that, I could only see the "-" (I'm using Firefox).
The other post with picture has the thumb sized version of that picture, with 90x61 pixels. Both pictures are from the same website,
loisandclarkarchive.com ,
and I can't see either (only the "-").
Something interesting: when I click on the "-" and try to see the properties of the image, all I get is the location of the image (the URL), and the sizes are 0 KB. It's as if the images aren't downloaded at all.
As for the picture you posted, Artemis, I can see it.
So I don't think it's a general problem with pictures, just for maybe this website.
For example, I have no problem seeing ALL the motivational posters from the "FoLC Productions" forum.

UPDATE: Was able to see once again the pictures from that website on this page, and when I reloaded the page, they were gone. Go figure.
