Awww... Your Queen of the Happy Endings title remains intact.
I especially liked the line,
Clark really believed that … he did. Maybe.
It says so much about how fervently Clark wished to believe everything was OK, and yet how much doubt still remained in him.
I would say that while you may have met the letter of the rules for the challenge, your story did *not* satisfy the spirit of it -- which is fine by me!
