I confused dandelions and daffodils - which had my brain tied up in knots as I read this. But then I looked up the flower name and suddenly an epiphany hit me. And as I read the name of the flower again, I can't believe I didn't get this sooner. The German name for the flower is "Löwenzahn". Löwe is lion in English and "Zahn" means tooth. And looking at the word, I can see that dande and "Zahn" looks as if they just might have the same archaic word in common.
