He'd spent the night in a tent, the heartbeats of Lois, his parents and Houdini keeping him company. The soothing sounds had chased away any sense of loneliness, almost as if he'd been sleeping in the house with them.

He stood frozen, struck by lightning, as she let go of him. Clark couldn’t believe what she’d said and he couldn’t reply either.

And omg I didn’t even realize the comparison until I read Jess’ comparison!! That’s right that Houdini first had to protect Lois and then Clark from one another. Wow!! Poor confused boy!
