And the mysteries go on, as well as the fluff. It's nice to see a Lois who's a bit more, ah, humble about things and less arrogant/self-centered than early show Lois. Though I get a feel there are reasons for that, since it's already been implied she had a fall from grace of some sort.
Martha certainly knows how to keep Lois busy/distracted and to take car eof Clark's well-being too.
As for BEss...I suspected her to be an animal, my guess was either a cow or a horse, and turned out to be right. I feel like there's more to the story with her and Clark than Martha told Lois. MAybe something she can't share bc it's related to his abilities, or maybe just an emotional/touchy subject. I'm sure we'll see.
I also find it interesting how Martha implies several times during their talk that the farm is essentially clark's/that he's the one in charge, not her. Did not expect that tbh. also, can one land-worker (Jack) rally make that much of a difference or is Clark merely using him as an alibi? Is he supering yet or not? I assume th elatter but we don't know yet.
Also, I'm curious to know what happened to Jon. I assumed he died but if it were just that I agree with Lois, there would be photos or memories or osmething. Hrm...did something ugly happened between M&J? Was he taken to protect CLark's secret or someting? Ah, so intriguing, that, but I'm sure whatever's the reason it's a sad one.
Nice Clois interactions. These two are warming up quickly to each other. And Martha obviously ships it.
Also, Clark using his powers to claim he had ot go to th ebarn just to be with her lol. He's so head-over-heels whether he realizes it yet or not.
And the mystery surrounding Jack also continues. Who's that guy? What's his connection to Lois? Why is he always away form the farm he works on? Ah, so many questions, which I'm sure will be unraveled with time, as is usually the case in all your fics.
