I'm super intrigued! I'm so behind I was definitely NOT going to read this one since it was so new (and I figured I get to it in January, lol), and I skimmed it and then re-read it, and now I'm replying to feedback as I check for an update that I KNEW wouldn't be posted yet. lol So, yes, definitely intrigued!

Sam Lane had never intended to go into politics.
I love this start. It's just such a fun way to be introduced to your version of Sam.

But when faced with a years long war against an enemy far more powerful than the most advanced human weaponry, the country – no, the world – had turned to the one man who had discovered that enemy’s weakness and given humanity a fighting chance.
This is such a great summary couched in character description! Such economical and effective writing.

It was then that President Lane first received a message from Lord Jor-El.
COOL character combo!

...who had begun his reign just after the destruction of Krypton, which had also resulted in the death of his father.
OMG, every part of this just sounds like a disaster!

...in a population already stricken by the loss of their planet.
Excellent point.

Nor will be punished to the fullest extent possible according to Kryptonian law.
Oooof. This reminds me of what the Kryptonians sentenced Clark to on the show. Nor is not in for a good time.

As I have explained before, our government would not survive a complete upheaval of the ruling council.
This whole section is sad. If their planet hadn't died, they wouldn't be on the move now. They might not have the same council members, replacement might be easier (even with hereditary restrictions)... Just sad.

We offer what reparations we can in the form of technology and other resources to help you rebuild and recover.
This is interesting.

I’ve gotta be pronouncing that wrong.
lol That's perfect.

They consider it a matter of both tradition and insurance.
And THERE'S the misogynistic, backwards culture we all remember, lol. Your Jor-El is so reasonable (as he should be) that I'd almost been lulled.

And Lois… no. Even if I were okay with this, she would never accept it.
I'm fascinated to see where you take this, because, yeah, these should be some spectacular fireworks. lol

She’d just completed her first year of college.
Oooo. Also intriguing!

Looking up at Jor-El, he nodded firmly. “Give me a day to consult with my daughter. I’ll give you her answer tomorrow.”
Really love how this is phrased, and that Sam is giving her the choice. It feels like he's really going to ask her to consider it, not force her into it. Consent is so important.

Sam rested his head in his hands and groaned. Lois was not going to like this.

Looking forward to (and eagerly awaiting) the next 15!
