On thing though, Mayson didn't exactly say "no". Clark says: "She had said no. Well, not exactly no. She had said that she needed to think about it. It wasn’t no, but it wasn’t yes, either." - But at least Clark had been relieved huh?
Remember all this time Mayson has known Clark is hiding something from her. She asked him about it at lunch the day before - it makes her cautious. She wants to know the truth.
