It is an off-and-on canon thing that Superman has an aura (well, sometimes writers seem to forget it). I do think that Superman could fly quite fast with a passenger, because his aura would protect her, if he held her close to her. Yes, I think he could faster than the fastest air planes without hurting his passenger.
