Thanks for reading and commenting. I really appreciate your taking the time to do so, especially since I know you found this section difficult to deal with. I've been trying to maintain a balance and not have the story degenerate into gratuitous violence for violence's sake, while at the same time, accepting that I can't really pull my punches with the terrible nature of the situation. I know it doesn't seem that way now, but I promise I won't leave my characters in the darkness forever.
I'm glad you enjoyed the scene with Lois and Perry. Lane Smith was indeed a magnificent actor and he brought such warmth to the role of Perry White. One of the things I really disliked about Superman Returns, in fact, was Frank Langella's interpretation of Perry. His cold demeanor and vaguely sexualized attitude toward Lois just plain gave me the creeps. I really like writing Perry White because Smith's Perry was such a wonderful mix of cynic and softie.
