Thank you all so much for your comments! This version of Clark is very different from any I've ever written before, and I appreciate your staying with me while I try to get him sorted out.
Patrick, I appreciate your confidence in me, but I haven't seen Superman II since it was in theaters when I was a kid! I'm not sure I could do it justice in fan fic. My interest in the Superman franchise seems to be confined to the L&C version, much to my son's dismay. "Too much Clark, not enough Superman," he says disdainfully.
Thank you for your comments on the story!
Tahu, your important questions were spot on. I promise we're about to start finding some answers to them!
Ann, thank you as always for your wonderful comments!
Of course, this begs another question... Clark, aren't you going to be honest with her about the fact that you are, or used to be, Superman? Do you think you can will your Kryptonian origins away by never acknowledging them?
I address this more explicitly in Part 4, but Clark does plan to be honest with Lois...eventually. He realizes he can't have a life with her without her really knowing who he is. BUT, he seems to think there's going to be some mythical 'right time' in the future when he'll be able to tell her without it ripping them apart. I think that's a denial mechanism we all have and employ from time to time, and of course, canon Clark could have won prizes for it. "Later" often seems like the best time to do something unpleasant, doesn't it?
that farewell letter from Superman. What did Clark do with it? Did he print it, leaving it lying on his desk? Or did he leave it just sitting there on his computer screen, so that Lois can come back and see it?
No, he didn't leave it where she or anyone else could see it

. I believe he printed a copy, though, and took it with him...
Angie, Jojo, Another folc...thank you all so much for reading and commenting! I hope you enjoy the next part
Best,
Caroline
