I had many scenarios in my head as to what the 2x4 could be (one of which was that you were suddenly going to wrap the story up in part 42, thank you so much for not doing that!), but this actually wasn't one of them. I was thinking something more along the lines of Lane and Kent finding themselves in Lois and Clark's universe. Or...other things, too.
Really though, this story just keeps getting better and better. To the point that it is now driving me to distraction thinking of what might be coming next. I agree with everyone else - you have to post again sooner than that 48-hour hour standard (tonight would be fantastic
) or else I'm not sure I'm going to make it!
