I think Clark is overthinking it. He expects some huge signs like garlands and bells to tell him that *she's* your soulmate. What about love.. slow and tender?

So yeah I agree.. he needs some jolt to get him on the right track... and Lois probably needs to be in a tight spot (not necessarily a deathbed), to believe the depth of Clark's feelings for her.

Besides, these two characters are totally believable (given despite their life experiences, they're only 22? 23? One can only cope up with so much at a time...)
