Oh, I forgot to mention, it also depends on whether you are on the east coast or the west coast! I live on the west coast of the South Island in NZ and our tide times for high and low tide are the more or less opposite to those of the east coast of the South Island.
Therefore the tide could easily depend on the size of the island and which coast they are on.
Either way, tides are variable so you can have the tide at whatever stage you like I guess.
