Virginia I'm interested in this aspect of the story. Why is it impossible to return? I had thought it might be the gun-runners, now I'm thinking it might have something to do with the villiage itself.

They are moving forward. Slowly.
Kate A battle of wills! Wonder who'll win that?
Kathy Clark has been through the ringer, but Lois is exactly what he needs to heal, both physically and emotionally. Even if neither of them know it yet.
For me, that's the core of the Lois/Clark relationship. He can't be all he is destined to be without her.
And it's fun writing stories where he realises that!
MM Your stories are like a fine wine - to savour.

Thanks to everyone who commented.
Next part is up.
