Nope, otherwise she would have thought "reading and writing". When thinking to oneself about stuff like that, one usually doesn't think of one's own language. When teaching my son about letters, I don't think of it as "teaching him English", but teaching him the difference between letters and numbers (a fact he constantly confuses).
