Uh, this doesn't feel like a stand-alone story to me - more like the first chapter of a great epic. I'll be watching the boards with interest to see if you decide to expand your intriguing idea into serious fanfic territory. I think your muse took over and gave the plot of an extended multi-post story, not just a one-timer. And it's screaming nfic version, too.
