oo, good story, jana! i like the title. (sorry, couldn't resist) actually, what i really like is: <Go with number four. The others were all wrong. Number four, number four...> and <What was it he had planned to say again? Something about Superman. Uh oh. Now was not the time to freeze up... Quick! Say something!> "Lois, did you ever notice how Superman and I look kind of alike?" He blurted out the words before he could stop himself. And once he started, there was really no point in stopping. Darn that rehearsal. He didn't bother to wait for her answer. "Well, it's funny you should say that-" those were just great. i like lois's thought, too. "Clark, I know how you try to mimic Superman just to impress me. I think it's sweet. But really, you don't have to do that anymore. I told you, I picked you." fun idea. nice job with the misdirection, too. waffy ending. great job. Paul
When in doubt, think about penguins. It probably won't help, but at least it'll be fun.

It's funny how his brain short circuits every time Lois is around. Instead of going with the nice #4, he goes with the worst idea, #2. Whether it works out best for him, we won't know unless there's a sequel or epilogue to this (though I'm not calling for one since it works wonderfully as is). Great job! Happy birthday, Anna!

Happy Birthday, Anna! (I wonder how many more times I can say it today <g>) And way the go Jana! I like what you did with this. I think it's a nice answer to the challenge, and you portrayed Clark's feelings very well. And then he just had to go with his worst option. And there were smoochies!!! So write more soon Jana! Oh my goodness!! I'm beaming!! (How many times can I say that today? ) Jana, this is *wonderful*. Not the story I would have chosen for my birthday fic?? Are you kidding?? All I have to say to that is: "Daniel is a very nice man who is deeply misunderstood." Darn right!! It's about time that the world (and Lois ) noticed! I'll also thank Paul for pointing out my other favorite parts, and add this one among them: <Wow, what a smile. She was amazing. Wait. What did she just say?> That was just adorable. Thank you, Jana, and thank you to everyone who has wished me a happy birthday. This has certainly been a great day so far! ~Anna

Jana, this is great . I absolutely love Clark's thought processes. It was so cute how flustered he got. He was finally going to tell Lois the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. LOL! I just got an image of Joe Friday from Dragnet when i read that. Go with number four. The others were all wrong. Number four, number four.. LOL! Number four, really, Clark? I sort of liked number three -- short and to the point Clark, I know how you try to mimic Superman just to impress me. I think it's sweet. But really, you don't have to do that anymore. I told you, I picked you." His eyes widened as he realized the depths of their misunderstanding. "I picked you, Clark. Not Dan. Not Superman. You." LOL, wow Lois totally misinterpreted that one <g>, but then awwwww that is so sweet! Great story! I loved the ending, too -- hooray that she picked him over himself and the stupid sardine . And HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ANNA - Alicia

Jana, this is great! Really cute and funny! Started laughing at the title... continued pretty much until the end. Especially "Daniel is a very nice man who is deeply misunderstood." Lois stopped for a second to size him up, then smiled. "But I still picked you." which made me at the beginning, and awwwww! at the end.
Do you know the most surprising thing about divorce? It doesn't actually kill you, like a bullet to the heart or a head-on car wreck. It should. When someone you've promised to cherish till death do you part says, "I never loved you," it should kill you instantly.

Thank you Jose, Paul, Labby, Tricia, Roger, Saskia, Twinnie, Alicia, Merry, Shelley, and rivka! I appreciate all the comments! You even managed your twin request Yes, I did, Jose. I was pretty proud of myself for managing to get that in. Not the easiest line to work into a fic. i like the title. (sorry, couldn't resist) <g> Well, thank you, Paul. I'm actually very fond of it too. Thanks for thinking up such a creative and memorable title! Thanks for sharing this lovely story. I enjoyed it immensely. Aw, thanks, Tricia! It's funny how his brain short circuits every time Lois is around. Instead of going with the nice #4, he goes with the worst idea, #2. Whether it works out best for him, we won't know unless there's a sequel or epilogue to this (though I'm not calling for one since it works wonderfully as is). Thanks, Roger! Yes, Clark sure does seem to lose it when he tries to have a serious conversation with Lois. I knew when I first thought about responding to the challenge that I would have to use the worst possible line. It just has more interesting possiblities IMHO. And way the go Jana! I like what you did with this. Thanks, Sas! And thanks for all your help br'ing. I think Anna was surprised.
