It occured to me tonight that in the past couple of years, Queen of the Capes has been the only one to post scavenger hunt lists. Generally speaking, however, the one who posts the challenge doesn't write a response. So, poor Mary hasn't had a real opportunity to write a scavenger hunt fic.

Meantime, the boards are going through their usual winter slowdown (people on vacation, busy with Kerth reading, etc).

Clearly, there is only one thing to do. Call for Superman! ... No, wait. That's not it. Uhm... go catch up on the huge pile of stories I missed reading this year! ... No, that's not it, either (although I should do that, too...). Oh, right! Now I remember! Post a new scavenger hunt list!

Here we go... Whether or not your first name is Mary, the challenge is to write a story including as many of the following items as possible:

1. A bowl of cereal
2. A broken traffic light
3. Three airborne penguins
4. A cake with an unusual message (IE not "Happy Birthday")
5. A llama
6. One or more of The Flying Elvi (or Elvises)
7. A new flavor of ice cream
8. A kite
9. A Stutz Bearcat
10. The complete chorus line from a Broadway musical (not on stage)
11. Cat Grant
12. A plate of spaghetti
13. A songbird
14. Exactly 53 snowflakes
15. Krypton (the inert gas)
16. The advertizing mascot of your choice (something already existing, such as the 7up spot dance or a new and original one of your own)
17. A statue based on a classic myth
18. Someone in Spandex other than Superman
19. A comic book
20. A persistent and frustrating lack of spoons

Good luck, and have fun. smile

Paul

When in doubt, think about penguins. It probably won't help, but at least it'll be fun.

Well, er... Looking at some of your previous lists, this is probably a little more evi -- I mean diffic -- I mean creatively challenging.

An earlier list by Nqoire:

Quote
A dirty wet piece of string

A blue ballon

The LA Times

A golf ball

The book "Crime and Punishment"

This sentence: "I never did quite understand why...."
Your previous lists (in chronological order):

Quote
1. An unusual pet trick
2. Clark impersonates one of the Marx brothers
3. A really wacky, off-the-wall porn title
4. A strange (but G-rated) use for cottage cheese
5. A FoLC cameo
6. A Dr. Suess reference
7. Jimmy says "The duck flies at midnight."
8. A potato
9. A person in a toga
10. Either a Tank Ending or an ending where everyone bursts into song.
Quote
1. Jimmy Hoffa
2. Soul Mates
3. An unlikely president
4. snow
5. Lex Luthor
6. The word "Mershmegy"
Quote
1. A duck
2. Lois Lane in a silly costume (NOT a chicken suit though)
3. Clark as a fry-cook (2 points)
4. Timmy
5. A horse
6. Long-lost treasure
7. Lex Luthor dancing
8. A party to celebrate an obscure holiday
9. Hot Dogs
10. Quagmires (3 points)
11. A man in drag (2 points)
12. A character from another fandom (2 points)
13. A Gameshow
14. A FoLC cameo
15. A dinosaur
16. A Kung-Fu battle between a person and a chimp (5 points)
17. Superman doing something unusual for charity
18. A closet full of stuffed animals
19. One of Dr. Klein's Lab Rats [Wink]
20. The Lottery
21. Someone from the Daily Planet performing a show tune (2 pts)
22. Weird Science (2 pts)
23. Tempus
24. The phrase "I could've been a contender!"
25. A lightbulb joke
26. The word "Shma!" (3 pts)
27. Canada
28. A Marx Brothers Reference
29. The sentence "All right, gang, let's split up and look for clues!"
30. The phrase/sentence "Muggy, muggy, I'm your little monkey-muffin, Cheeze-face!" (5 pts)
So... more than your usual, but less than your latest. Also, this one has a couple of interacting items (most notably, two or three items which usually call for spoons). One might also argue that this list is more random than average. Maybe. <shrug>

Remember, though, that you don't have to include everything. Just as much as you can reasonably fit. Since this list is twice as long as one list and three times as long as another, I suppose it would be fair to break it up into to or three smaller lists.

Of course, the mega list looked almost impossible when I first started, but it got easier as I found ways to fit things together. So... see how it goes.

Bottom line: Whatever works. The point is to have fun. smile
