Anna,
I'll try to be short : I thoroughly enjoy reading this, the second opus of the adventures of Kay the goldfish.
Hi!
Remember me? I’m Kay. The goldfish. The one that lives with the Kents.
Of course you remember me. How could you forget me?
Sorry for remaining silent for such a long time. But, you know how it is… In this house every day something new happens, and I hadn’t had the time to get in touch with you. But today I just had to. It’s Andrew’s birthday, and the whole family is getting ready for the big party that starts in a couple of hours.
Oh, there he is, going down the stairs. I know that look. He’s going to call ‘Mom!’ in the angriest tone he possesses.
“Mom!”
Ha! I knew it.
Good and catchy introduction part which instantly grabbed and draw me into the story without me even realizing it. OK, I did realize it...but too late! <g>
Lois baking had me LOL, but obviously, no kids were hurt in the B-Day cake tasting process, so...
I had forgotten how kids could be so evil. which reminded me of tricks we played with my cousins...er...forget that.
I liked how Kay's pops in at the opportune moments, and remains discreet at others. I like how you make us invisible witnesses of the Kent's life through its eyes. And the connivance and partnership that progressively sets up between the goldfish and the reader.
I also like how you use Kay as a pretext to explore either light or much more serious family questions.
When's third section due?
Carole
PS: I really tried to find a critic to throw at you, but apart the chronological thing with Diana Stride that may need 'some 'splaining', I couldn't find one except maybe: it was much too short!
