For those of you who missed the big Kerth Committee announcement tonight at the Kerth Awards ceremony, we thought we'd post the news here. As you all know, the Kerths have been around for a long time. The first Kerth Awards took place in March of 1998, and it has been wonderful to watch this part of our fandom grow and prosper over the years. Writers and readers alike have enjoyed the excitement of reading, nominating, and voting for the fanfic that our wonderful, talented fanfic writers put their hearts and souls into each year, and we all very much enjoy participating in our online ceremony each year when we celebrate their efforts. These awards have been a blast for everyone involved...but also a lot of hard work! Thank you! EDIT: I'd forgotten a few parts of how our "fellowship" came to be, and was reminded that Pam has played an even bigger part in these awards than my meager memory could recall. I've tweaked the history portion of this post to reflect that. Thanks for the reminder, my invaluable K-Comm!

Erin, Kathy, thank you so much for all you've done for fanfic and the Kerths! You guys - all of you in K-Com, Pam and Annette too - have done a wonderful job over the past 8 years. You've taken a lot of undeserved flak for it, too, from time to time. You've withstood it gracefully and behaved in an exemplary manner. You're an example to us all. I for one am very sorry to see you step down. But, if you have to go, I can't think of any better people to take your place. Kaethel, Yvonne, Elena and Tricia, I'd like to wish you all the very best of luck in your new responsibilities and say that I have every confidence that you'll follow in Kathy and Erin's footsteps with skill. Good luck! K-Com, thank you again very much indeed for all your efforts, the vast amount of time you've expended on these awards year after year, and for your dedicated service to fanfic and FoLCdom. A big thank you to Erin, Kathy and Pam for all your hard work and dedication over the years with the Kerth awards. It's sad to see you stepping down. I'm looking forward to working with Kaethel, Annette, Yvonne and El as a member of the new committee. Tricia

Happy retirement, guys! You deserve it. Having occasionally had a glimpse of just how much blood, sweat and tears you've poured into this venture over the years and marvelled at the complexity of it all, I know how hard you've all worked and how much dedication you've put into the venture. And good luck to the Kerth Committee: The Next Generation <g>. Here's looking forward to more successful Kerths in the future. Now...where's that fanfic...? LabRat
Athos: If you'd told us what you were doing, we might have been able to plan this properly. Aramis: Yes, sorry. Athos: No, no, by all means, let's keep things suicidal.

Erin, Kathy, and Pam, thanks for all the work you've done over the years on the Kerths. It's often been challenging, and always *very* demanding of your time, and yet you've handlled it all with such good humour. That there have been so few glitches over all these years is a testament to your care. You've given us a structure that has helped to keep the spirit of "Lois and Clark" alive for many of us. Thank-you:) c.

Thanks Erin, Kathy and Pam for all your hard work over the years -- I know I have thoroughly loved everything to do with the Kerths these past few years. Thanks for all you've done to create this wonderful tradition and keep it going!
And welcome to the new K-Com! Thanks for stepping up to keep the Kerths alive and flourishing!

I was flabbergasted when this was mentioned last night. It's truly the end of an era. But, I'm glad, not of the festivities. Good luck to the old K-Comm, and good luck to the new! And.. did I hear.. FIC? *pounce* Nag!

I'd like to add my most heartfelt thanks to K-Com for doing such a fantastic job over the past eight years. Ever since I joined the fandom seven years ago, the Kerths have been a milestone I've been looking forward every year. They were my very first time on irc (which I haven't left since ), and they're an event I look forward to every year, as they're so much fun to attend. And that's really thanks to you guys, who put so much time and dedication into making them the great celebration they always are. Erin, I'm very grateful for your faith in my ability to step into your big shoes. We're definitely counting on you all in the current K-Com to guide us new K-Com members in this new undertaking, to keep the Kerths stay in the same spirit they've always been. So don't run off to Hawaii! We need you! And thanks everybody, for the good wishes. I'm definitely looking forward to working with Annette, Yvonne, Tricia, El and Kathy. Kaethel

I haven't been around for a long time (in comparison to many of the FoLCs around here, anyway) but I know you girls had put a lot of effort in organizing the Kerths and making it the great party it now is. Enjoy your retirement Kaethel, Elena, Yvonne, Tricia, thank you for becoming the new K-Comm members that will keep this party going on!!! I wish you the best See ya, AnnaBtG.

Lois: Can I go? Clark: No. Lois: Oh come on, Clark, why do we go through this? We both know I’m going to go. Clark: Then why do you ask? Lois: I’m trying to be nice.
