Wow. First he decides to leave the city, then he makes assumptions before she can answer, then he doesn't let her talk, then he loses control, then he think he's raped her, and after all that he decides to retire Superman...
Wow. I didn't think that was possible! Must be a super power I hadn't heard of before. "Yes, I can bend steel in my bare hands, melt stone with my eyes, fly at will, and be 6 different kinds of idiot in rapid sucession!"
And so much for his superheroic resolve. Sheesh. The phrase "he folded faster than Superman on laundry day" comes to mind and seems oddly apt.
Well, at least he was smart enough to save the world on the side. I love the Nightfall bit.
Really nice touch with the random street mugger, too. I had no idea where that was going, but I especially didn't see that coming. Cool!
(Just tell me the mugger's name isn't Mike. Please?)
Meantime, what the heck is going on with Lois? How did you manage to still leave room for either possibility? That's just... diabolical.
I better get some answers in the next part, or... or... Actually, I'm not sure what. Either you'll be in a load of trouble the likes of which I can't even imagine right now, or I'll be very very scared. For the sake of argument (and because it will likely get better results), I'll say the former for now.
So, when do we get to see more?
