Very nice, Laura. We so seldom see vignettes that focus on one of the minor characters, and this glimpse of Sam is very touching.

Don't like Luthor, unfinished, untitled and crossover story, and people that promises and don't deliver. I'm getting choosy with age.

I loved this. In fact, I'll go one step further and say that I love this story better than all the stories you've ever written. The dialogue here sounded natural, and flowed very nicely.

Even the one when you pain-stakingly worked out a possible (scientific) solution of using hydrogen peroxide as a antidote for kryptonite poisoning (which appealed to me cos I'm a biochem student).

Loved it, and looking forward to more of such stories from you.

I enjoyed that insight in Sam's mind.
blush Thanks! I'll admit that I have this perverse fascination with Sam Lane, and I am not exactly sure why. I've even written a full-length story about him and I have 2 WIPs where he plays a major role. I always enjoy stories where we get to learn more about the supporting charactersand I've always felt that Sam is a character we know very little about. My favorite example of a story about a minor character is Christy's "The Martha Chronicles."

blush jawdrop jawdrop Thank you, metwin1! This seriously made my day . . . no, my week . . . okay, my year.

I have a very hard time making dialogue flow like speech, so I am so glad this story worked. I am trying to write more dialogue and less introspection -- with introspection and naration judiciously used -- and I am so glad I seem to be making progress!

Laura, sorry I'm late posting on this. I really liked this glimpse into the mind of Sam Lane, and your use of the bartender to show us Sam's regret was very well done indeed. Nice work! thumbsup

I printed it off and read it on the bus/walk home from bus.

Way cool. Way way way cool.

I like the fact that I was treated to reading a fic about character that is usually not the focus. I was totally surprised by it.

Thank you for such a lovely treat.

It hit close to home (my parents/stepPar). The emotions where very raw.

I've been really sick the past week and I have no had much of an attention span. It was the perfect length for my brain to tolerate. I'm glad I was able to get some fan fic in there.
THANK YOU AGAIN!!!!!

I've converted to lurk-ism... hopefully only temporary.

Laura

This is an excellent insight into Sam and his emotions. So sad! thumbsup

It’s very sad that Sam thinks that he can’t make an effort to get to know Lois and Lucy. It illustrates just how depressed he is. It’s hard to fight when you are feeling so down. And I suppose 20 years is a lot of ground to make up. I love Bob’s comment about it never being too late. smile
