If it were possible, Ching looked even more thunderstruck. "Hair cut? And what does a 'dye job' mean? Zara, you wouldn't consider changing your hair?"

"Why not, Ching? We can't afford to let the people of Earth know that the New Kryptonians are back in town. The authorities would be bound to inquire why we're here, and our visit can't be associated in any way with the arrival of Matthew in Lois and Clark's home. Matthew has to be thought of as an Earth child." The demure First Lady's eyes began to twinkle. "Besides, I think I might enjoy a new image."

"I wouldn't!" her husband announced emphatically. "I'm perfectly happy with the way you are, as are your subjects. Earth always did have a bad influence on you, Zara!"
LOL! You've got Ching down to a pat! And Zara seems to be a handfull. laugh

Another great chapter, Jenni. Though I suspect the adoption progress isn't going to be so easy as they all seem to expect.

Looking forward to the next part.

Lois: Well, I like my quirks. I think they make me unique.
Clark: You certainly are unique.

Clark: You're high maintenance, you know that?
Lois: But I'm worth it!

Works for me. smile

Can't wait for the next part.

Do you know the most surprising thing about divorce? It doesn't actually kill you, like a bullet to the heart or a head-on car wreck. It should. When someone you've promised to cherish till death do you part says, "I never loved you," it should kill you instantly.

Jenni, I've gotten a little behind in reading (and a *lot* behind in posting comments), but I'm up to speed again. This is really wonderful.

I love how well everyone is working together in all of this. I love the fact that the baby's arrival is due to the New Kryptonians (I don't remember seeing that idea before), I loved all the stuff with Klein.

Old Doc Warner was a terrific character. His appearance in the story was short, yet he was so well drawn that he just jumped to life off the page. I have a picture in my mind of him like Burt Lancaster's character in "Field of Dreams". And I loved how he let Clark's name slip at the end.

It's wonderful to see how both Lois and Clark have instantly fallen in love with this baby, and how carefully they're working past every obstacle to make sure that they can keep him.

Looking forward to more.

Kathy
