Okay, I'm totally late on this thread but I have to put in my 2 cents. Something I noticed while reading through the posts is that no one mentioned how Paris actually became famous. People were saying it was her being rich or doing her show, The Simple Life, but the truth is Paris was around long before that. Paris Hilton is infamous for her sex videos that were all over the Internet. No, she was not a porn star but she did video herself having sex with someone (can't remember who it was) and somehow it leaked out to the Internet... Very much like Pamela Anderson's vids. Just do a search in google for Paris Hilton's sex vids and I'm sure numerous links will come up. The vids have since been taken down but you can probably read all about the hype. So, after that her name was out there and I've seen her steadily get more and more "popular". I really don't have anything against Paris & Britney Spears at all. I honestly feel sorry for them because, like Ann said and some others, they really find their value as human beings in their looks, sex appeal, money, etc. And unfortunately, those things don't last... well maybe the money does for them. I think that's why Britney Spears has had this breakdown. Because she was THE sex symbol and then suddenly she's fat from her babies, stretch marks, and felt worthless. I think she is a talented girl, don't really like her voice, but her songs are catchy and she's a great performer. But you can only do that sort of thing so long and when it's over, they feel worthless. In Paris' case, she really doesn't have any talent but she's a smart business woman (as someone said earlier - sorry don't have time to look in the thread again). She played that sex video tape fiasco and now everyone knows who she is. Perhaps she even released the vid for that reason.

She may have become famous from the sex vids or something, but what I've heard, and just checked out, is that though she has made money from her acting, she was already quite rich or at least her family was. Her grandpa is chairman of Hilton Hotels, and his dad was the founder, so her "inheritance" is worth between $30-50 million. That in some ways is what disgusts me about her, is that she didn't need to become famous to have money, as some girls do. Instead, she could have remained a somewhat unknown name in society and not caused her family some of the embarrassment that she has. I know I never actually hear the connection to the Hilton Hotels mentioned, but that is most likely because they are trying to distance themselves from her as much as they can. I don't know what will happen, but if I were them, I wouldn't give her any more of the family money.
I think, therefore, I get bananas.
When in doubt, think about time travel conundrums. You'll confuse yourself so you can forget what you were in doubt about.
What's the difference between ignorance, apathy, and ambivalence? I don't know and I don't care one way or the other.

Such a small world. Pamela Anderson is now married to the guy that Paris made that sex tape with...
Lois: You know, I have a funny feeling that you didn't tell me your biggest secret.
Clark: Well, just to put your little mind at ease, Lois, you're right. Ides of Metropolis
