So here's the story. I was driving home this morning and was struck with the burning desire to make a trailer. And somehow LabRat's wonderfully bleak and passionate Are You Lonesome Tonight...? sprang to mind. So as soon as I was inside I rushed to Windows Movie Maker and got going. Finished it, got ready to upload... and then remembered what I'd forgotten all along. There's already a trailer for this story, made by Kaethel in May! And it's a fantastic one, too. Anyway, I talked to Kaethel and she has very kindly given me permission to post my trailer too. So here it is: Are You Lonesome Tonight...? Windows Media Player version. Hope you enjoy - and don't forget to watch Kae\'s version again too. Wendy

(I figure you can just edit your post or move this. ) Ooooh!!! Another trailer! Very spooky music - a great fit for the story!! I love the constant cutting back to the asteroid; it really builds the suspense! And what a brilliant play on words! "Every silver lining has a cloud." Love that. Especially effective was the part when Clark takes her to bed, interspersed with the asteroid. You really feel like time's running out. And LOL at the story of the "minimelon", and of course the pig. Okay, now you guys are spoiling me! And...woah. Sara said everything I was thinking as I watched this. I love the quick switchbacks between the asteroid and Clark and Lois. Very effective build-up of tension. Very ROTFL'd at the 'silver cloud' - I'd forgotten about that! And OMG - that pig! That's it! That's the pig! OMG - how ugly is that? <shudder> And of course the minimelon. (Don't think Lois is ever going to live that one down. ) Thank you, Wendy! What a wonderful start to my weekend. What with this and the fact that my new Stargate novel arrived in the mail, I'm on cloud nine! (Proving that clouds also have silver linings, too. ) LabRat

Just popping in quickly - thanks, Sara and Rat, for your lovely comments! I wanted to point out that the cloud in the silver lining line isn't mine - it's a slight twist on a line from the story. When Lois and Clark are both drunk and rambling, they get a little incoherent, and Clark comes out with this; "You know, they do say that there's a silver cloud in every lining." It takes a woozy Lois a little while to figure out what's wrong with what he said, but she finally gets there: Taken aback, feeling a spark of righteous annoyance at the way the wine had snuck up on her so ungallantly, she forced herself to focus instead on what her partner had just said. Silver cloud linings? No, wait a minute...that wasn't...that wasn't...*right*. Was it? Her annoyance shifted, turning to pique. With herself for not being able to work out where it was wrong and why, with him for saying it wrong in the first place and making her work so...so...darn *hard* to figure it out.
Ah...wait. Wait. Hold it. Yes, that was it.
"A silver lining in every *cloud*."
"Huh?"
"A silver lining in every...cloud," she corrected again and was surprised all over again at how slowly she had to accentuate each word in order to ensure its safe arrival into the world. How strong *was* that wine anyway? "Not silver clouds. Lining...whatever."
"Oh...oh yeah. " Clark waved a dismissive hand and then nodded. "That too." It's a wonderful humorous touch amid all the melancholy, but the confused metaphor is so apropos in the circumstances. Loved it! Wendy

Oh. Well. I'm stumped for words, Wendy.
I love this.
Here's hoping you get hit by more the urge to make more trailers!

I'm a little late coming back to this thread - sorry! Thank you all, very much indeed! I'm delighted that you liked the trailer, and especially that LabRat likes it. And thank you again, Kae, for generously allowing me to post this. Wendy
